Full Time No More

Closed on the Cape Coral house yesterday. We will still stay in the Montana for another month in Florida before towing back north.

We will have only completed 2.5 years as full timers by the time we actually get moved in. I sure never thought we would stop that soon!

I guess if for some reason we don't like our new lifestyle we can always go back to full timing.

Congrats. Just the opposite for us. Sold the Fl house, closing 4/15. More time to spend traveling and seeing other places. Will still home base in Illinois.

Having the S&B in Ohio as our domicile has not slowed us down or prevented us from doing anything. We have been to the same places and taken the same pictures as any full timer. We have traveled nearly 10K miles a year in our Montana's which is more than many full timers.Just s aying.

We certainly will not leave the MOC. I am guessing that we will still be in the Montana at least 5 months of every year. Plus I am going to need advise this fall on winterizing for the first time!

Joe. We have not winterized either of our two Montana's in the 9 years we have been long timers. We stay in warm areas all year.

Our "summer base" park in Illinois lets us have the same spot back every year for $325 a month. If you winterize and unplug your rig they will let you keep it on your site for the winter at a $25.00 per month rate. As long as that deal holds we will keep it in the frozen tundra during the winter.

Our good friends (he also is a retired Illinois LEO) keep their fiver stored in Florida where they now live. They travel off and on during the winter in Florida and then spend 3 or 4 months on the road during the summer visiting kids/grandkids up north. We may end up doing something like that after awhile, especially if the deal at our old Illinois CG changes.

One day at a time Joe it will work out. This Montana is being used all the time so we are in general up north during the summer months and down south during the winter months. We finally decided not to purchase in Florida. We have a long time lease on this property that is very cost effective for us.

Steve and Gina Young just purchased a lot here in this facility so they now have a Florida Domicile. I don't think they have it all worked out yet but they have a place to call home.

Congrats on the new home. Enjoy your winters in your new home. We really enjoy RVing but probably will always have a place to come home to.

Mike, I hope I am not posting that exact statement in a few years.

However, right now as we finish up some interior painting at the house and prepare to spend our last week in the Montana before towing back north, I am thinking of all the plus's of owning a home again.

After organizing all my equipment/tools in the garage I realize how I have missed having all of this set up and available.

After using the homes 4'x 7' walk-in shower I wonder how I thought the shower in our new Montana was "so big".

I have tried to convince myself for 3 years that I did not miss my motorcycle. The DW even agreed when I would bring the subject up. But both of us kept our motorcycle gear/leather stored all this time. Now I am pretty sure a bike will be in the garage before this fall.

I guess we are lucky that we can adapt and enjoy both life styles.

My post would be the same J&C. We do enjoy the best of both life styles. Yes we do miss the big shower, unlimited hot water and room to move around. We also love our Montana and the pleasure it brings us.

Anytime I need "room to move," I just walk out the front door of the Big Sky . . .
