Bumper Removal

I have a 2012 Mountaineer 324RLQ that has a rear bumper. I want to put a receiver hitch on for a bicycle rack, however, the spot where the hitch would attach is where the bumper is welded to the frame. Has anyone ever removed the square steel bumper and installed a receiver hitch. The bumper appears to just be spot welded to the frame. Thanks for any input.

You can grind off the welds to remove the bumper. But I think they make a bicycle rack that will go on the tube bumper and you can leave the bumper on.

They do make mounting systems for bike racks that clamp around the bumper.
