12 volt lights

All my lights in bed room work and rest of trailer work but the ones over the bed. If you test them they have voltage in hot wires but well not work even with new bulbs. Got me messed up. Need help???

Did you pull the lights and test the wires behind them and when did they last both work?

In order to check to see if you have 12 volts, you need to have one lead on ground and one lead on hot wire, did you have that?

It would be unusual that both; above the bed lights' switches went bad at the same time. But maybe Richard got them fixed????

The black wire should have 12 volts, and the white wire should be ground. If you put a volt meter between the two and it reads 12 volts, the wires are fine. Try running a temporary jumper from one of the wires going to the switch to the other wire going into the switch. If the light comes on, the switch is bad. Most places like Lowes, Home Depot, hardware stores or Radio Shack (hurry cause they may be going out of business) should have replacement switches.

Report back what you find.
