6 volt batteries
I am gonna replace my 12v batteries with 2 6v.
Got any recommendations on which kind to get?
I was leaning towards interstate, as I have had good luck with them.

They should be good. Lot's of folks use Trojans. Since we have six and I'm lazy I went with AGM's.

AGMs are the best around. Put them in, keep your rig plugged in, and forget about them. The only caution is that they do need a particular charger. The off the shelf charger may or may not work.

I bought Interstates. Been happy so far. Haven't used much water over the last two years but I also have a different charger that may not be beating them up.

I highly recommend Trojans T 105 I have 6 in my Golf Cart going on 9 years old! Also look at the T 605 for a little less $.Trojan has a great web site to compare specs.Ther is a reason that the vast majority of Golf Carts that are leased to Golf courses are equiped with Trojans

I just installed two Trojan T145's and will install two additional ones next spring. So far I have spent 4 nights dry camping on two and have had no problem at all. I do run a 2000 watt honda generator for about an hour each morning to make coffee, so I am sure that helps some also. The research I did on batteries was confussing but I found the greatest number of positives with the Trojans
Good Luck!

Thanks for the input. Bought the Trojan. Seems to hold a charge a lot longer then the 2 12v.

I have 2 12 volt batteries, if I go to 6 volt do I replace with 2 6 volt of do I need to replace with 4 6 volt batteries? By using 6 volt do you need to do anything with your inverter?

Your two 12's in parallel gave you 12vdc at double the amp hours listed on one battery. Two six volt batteries, wired in series will give you 12vdc @ whatever amp hr is listed on one battery. If you want more amp hrs than two six' in series, then two more are added, which are also in series and then the first group is paralleled to the second group. And you are going to be using large gauge cables and working with amperage that will kill you in a heart beat, so be sure you know what you are doing. John

Stupid Questions: Am purchasing 2 Trojan 6v T145 batteries to replace my stock single 12v battery.
Question #1: I already purchased a new dual battery box from Amazon in anticipation of this project but can return. Box I purchased is: NOCO HM426 Dual 6-Volt Commercial Grade Battery Box for Automotive, Marine and RV Batteries This, however, is not a completely sealed box....some gaps around the top....it is "vented" so to speak but it doesn't have a 2" vent hole to connect the Monty vent hose to. I was planning to do some mod to the box to permit the hose to connect. Are the gaps OK around the underneath of the lid? This make sense or should I return and get a sealed box and then do the mod?
Question #2: Do I need any special cables to connect these in series?

I just completed (this week) the battery upgrade using the NOCO HM426 and 2 Trojan T145 6 Volt batteries. My opinion and what I did:
I sealed the box using Weather strip foam around the lid and Great Stuff in the cable slots around the top of the box.
I cut a 2" hole in the bottom and placed a 2" OD PVC straight connector I got from Home Depot for the vent inlet.
Also cut a 2" hole in the center Box Lid and added a 2' OD 45 degree connector to connect to the vent hose. Used epoxy to fix both PVCs in place.
Seems airtight and adequate to me. The improvement is phenomenal!!! Previously I had a 75AH battery that died quickly.
Again, my opinion and what I did. Pictures below. (pictures do show the Great stuff I filled the cable holes with; but I did after I took this picture).

Slight correction to my posting above. I actually used a 1 1/4" 45 degree elbow for the top of the box vent connection to the vent hose. I had planned on using the 2" OD and actually made it fit after reducing it's OD, but the 1 1/4" PVC connector I mention above works better with the vent hose. The 2" straight connector worked great in the bottom of the box and the hole that was already present in the steel compartment floor. The actual OD of the top vent is less than 2" as shown in the picture below.
