I have probably owned close to 20 trucks over my lifetime. I only recall one not being 4x4

If I was starting over with buying my first fiver (for me that is only going back 2 years) and I had to make a choice between 4x4 and DRW, I would take the DRW.

As you can see below I now have a SRW truck. I don't have any problems towing and even in strong cross winds I have a very stable towing platform. The issue is I constantly monitor my weights and weight distribution because I am maxed out for a SRW TV. When I weigh toward the end of this trip to Florida it will be the 3rd time weighing this year.

I would rather be a little under my max limit. If I had DRW after buying the new Montana I would never have to worry about my weights.

I am on my 3rd tow vehicle. All have been DRW. I am on my 1st 4x4. I really do not need it, but finding a 4x2 Ram is almost impossible.

My vote is for both, 4x4, DRW. If money is a issue, the DRW is a must have and the 4x4 second.

Towing: my owners manual says to NOT TOW for the first 500 miles and if you tow in the next 500 miles to not exceed 50mph. So basically no towing for the first 1,000 miles. As mentioned, have the salesman read the book....
