How Many Years on G614

While I don't have G614, I was wondering how many years will those who have them plan on replacing the tires?? 5 years, more than 5 years?? I plan on replacing my standard trailer tires every 4 years regardless of their condition. I tow an average of 4000 miles per year and park the Monty with tire covers in South Texas the other 8-9 months.

I'm planning on 6-7 max depending on condition of the sidewalls. We tow about 15,000 miles a year or less.

As much as it pains me to say this, I plan on replacing mine every 5 years. We towed a little over 9,000 miles this year with another 1,500 or so to go. I am sure at 50,000 they will still show good tread but I just think 5 years is long enough for almost any tire.

We will see if Lonnie can chime in here and get a professional's opinion. These suckers are pricy!
Lonnie is on my facebook page, so I will hop over there and axe him.

Read a while back that in most countries in Europe 5 years max was the law. That was for all tires.

Goodyear says should be changed in approx. 7 years. That is what I am hoping for.

It is not about tire wear it is about tire condition. One can wear out a tire in one or two years and another can have minimum wear after 8 or 10 years. Sidewall cracking, dry rot are the killers of tires. We have all our tires truck and RV inspected by a professional every year. We replaced all the tires on the 08 Ford in 2012 at @ 55K miles although the wear looked good. We had three sets of tires on our 06 3400 in 7 1/2 years. We ruined one set due to a axle/shackle failure. We would hope to get 5 years out of the G614's but tires condition will be the determining fact or.

We have had our G614s a little more 4 1/2 years now. A lot of miles on them with some wear from bad axles from the trip to Alaska in 2010 when they were new. I did replace one last year due to concern. After replacing it and inspecting the tire off the rim, I was probably overly concerned. It could have lasted another couple of years with no problem. I might replace mine next summer if I decide to keep the rig. That would be 5 years. Joe

Unless you know a lot about tires, I recommend having them inspected every year by a professional tire dealer, one you trust to give you an honest opinion of the condition of your tires. Tires are designed to last from four to seven years from date of manufacture, depending on how and where they are used. In my opinion, five years on a fifth wheel is about long enough. Each month past five years increases the chances of catastrophic failure, and expensive repair bills for the resulting damage to the trailer. The Goodyear G614 is a good tire, but it's not bullet proof, even a new tire can fail.

By date of manufacture, I mean the date the tire was built, not the date the vehicle was built, nor the date the tire was installed on the vehicle.

The vast majority of RV tires will age out before the tread is gone. We can extend that age by keeping them covered (sun off them), not overloading them and maintaining proper TP.
