Sewer Connection Leaks with all valves closed

I have a 2008 Montana 2955RL. It is like new, even still smellslike brand new, as older couple wanted new one. Anyway, it has not been used much so I went to flush tanks and noticed as soon as I filled the tanks and went outside, water was running from Sewer Connection at a solid trickle. I drained all into home sewer trap and one by one filled them. I believe the guilty valve is the bathroom grey. Is there an adjustment to these valves since they are located remotely on the panel? Any suggestions appreciated.

Jim, get a bayonet style main gate valve immediately that goes on the end of that sewer connection. That will stop the leak temporarily. Then you can trouble shoot and isolate. Sounds like something is jammed in the internal valve of your gray tank. You will have to drop you belly panels to get to it.

If the tanks have not been used the seals could just be dried out. keep water in the tans and it could re-seal itself. They also make seal conditioner you can put in the tank to help lube and soften the seals.

I asked the question in another posting: "How do some of you keep the added-on valve connected to the sewer outlet?." I lost mine and had to buy another one.

Orv, I have traveled for three years now with my main gate valve in place. I haven't even thought about it possibly falling off.

Orv,
I installed a small set screw next to one of the plastic locks. This keeps the valve from turning & falling off.

With a hose clamp...

Works for me.

We also are of the ranks of "I haven't even thought about it possibly falling off." But now will install a hose clamp just to be sure!!! Thanks everyone.

Roy and Glenn, thanks for the 2 simple solutions. May never fall off, but then that's maybe what Orv was thinking?

Sorry, Jim (smfdva) - we are off topic. The addition mentioned above of a reconditioning solution to the tanks seems like the first and easiest possible fix.

No problem. I needed that solution as well. We are sitting at the campground now and it appears the leak may have slowed. Strange thing happened/ Wwe are camping 2 sites from the previous owner of our new trailer! SMall world. He said that they never had a problem with the drain, or anything else for that matter. Maybe the fluid in the tanks has moistened the seals and they have finally set. Lets hope! Still gonna add a modifcation to the trailer sewer and your pictures helped. Gonna add a swing arm made of PVC that mounts to the support beam. Holds sewer hose and swings out when ready to connect or dump. This feature is new on the 2010's, yet so simple to make.

Orv, I also lost one on the road. The replacement is bungee wrapped to the dump pipe and its support strap. I don't think it's going anywhere on its own until the bungee rots out.

However, I like the little screw idea. If I can't get that to work, then I'll go with a hose clamp.

Orv,

I loosened one of the screws on the backside of the valve, put a piece of plumbers tape (the metal tape with the holes in it), and stretched it up to the frame and then secured it with a fender washer. Has been on there for about 2 years.

With the valve handles on the panel on the right, where are the valves. Trying to locate exact location to minimize removal of Artci Underbelly. Alos, how does the pull handle actuate valve?

Clogged valves that won't close fully can possibly be cleared by using a product sold at Camping World. It is called toilet paper disolver. Application #3 on the directions is specifically for this use. It is $7.99 a bottle and will last for 4 treatments. It consists of pouring the mix and four gallons of water down the drain or toilet and letting it sit for 3 days with the valve open (sewer cap on). This dissolves the built up paper, gunk, or whatever from the valve track. Restores full closure to the vavle and stops the leaks. Works great as toilet paper build up is a frequent problem with black valves.

The valve handles use a cable system. The actual vavles should be close to where you see the drain pipe emerge from the underbelly.

Thanks. I couldn't for the life of me, figure out how to secure it.
