Fireplace

We just spent a week in Maine. When our fireplace worked it was great to keep the chill off in the morning and at night. Some of the problems we had were,

1. turn it on and sometimes it ran and other times it would run for two or three minutes and shut off. Would then need to switch switches off and wait about 10 minutes and try again.

2. Tried to start it on low turned control knob counterclock wise from high til it clicked and turned on switches. same as
#1

3. When it did stay running the manual said start on high, when desired temp is reached turn thermostat down until it clicks to keep that temp. When I did this it never turned on again.

swanny,

Sounds like the heating element is gone...or something similar.

If it is a Dimplex fireplace, here is the contact information.

Swanny,
Sometime ago our fireplace went out on us. Pulled it out (really easy to do) and cleaned it really well. It was very dusty. Checked all the wires and connections. Tested it while out and it worked. Put it back in and it has worked great since.

A number of folks have had to replace the motor assembly. From what I understand the fireplace outfit has been replacing free of charge.

Good luck.

I had the same problem, heat would run for a minute and shut off. I found out from this site that this was a common problem with the 09 model. I called the dealer and tech came out he called dimplex and they sent a new bottom plate with more holes and a bigger fan motor, they said not enough return air in original plate. Works great now. good luck

Our original fan was very weak, after it got some dust on it it got much worse. I opened it all up and cleaned all the dust out but the fan was so weak that I could blow on it hard and reverse it. Dimplex sent me another heating element/fan unit ant the new fan was much more powerful. While waiting for the delivery I used the the unit again and the heating element got red but no air came out and the thermocouple kicked it off. The tech at Dimplex said the element should NEVER get red. The first replacement unit got broken in shipping and they shipped me another right away. Their customer service is great. I kept the fan from the first replacement unit and gave it to a friend when his fan started to fail. Dimplex is great... Dave

Called Dimplex today, very nice to deal with. Explained the problem and all the new parts are on the way. Base vent assembly (hole are bigger) and a heater and motor assembly.

The tech told me about lack of instructions. She gave me a website to help with all the installs. http://optiflame.com
