Wiring a macerator

I will use a 12 volt sewage macerator to pump waste from my 5th wheel to a disposal field some 120 feet further away from my lakeside location. Would appreciate some ideas as to how to wire the pump to my trailer 12 volt system. Thanks !

I ran two extra wires with battery clips from the pump to the battery. I just clip and unclip at the battery as needed. I have a Flojet portable macerator which I've used extensively. The only problem I've experienced is the little ears breaking off when attached directly to the drain pipe. I put a short hose on the drain pipe and connect it to the pump which is laid on the ground. The distance you describe should not be a problem as long as there is not too much of an elevation difference.

I did the same thing as Bob. It's very easy to do and makes pumping the sewage simple. I just dumped this morning from our rig to my aunt's sewer clean out, 80 feet away. Just clip your positive lead to the positive post on the battery and the negative lead to the negative post on the battery (assuming your battery is 12 volts).

On edit, I forgot to mention that I mounted the macerator on a 12 inch by 12 inch piece of 5/8 inch plywood along with an on/off switch. When I'm through, I just bundle it up and stick it in the storage area next to the toilet down pipe.

I "permanently" mounted my macerator on the frame and then ran PVC forward about a foot and up into the bottom of the Montana so that I could have a place to store the hose. I bought one of those hoses that stretchs to 21' and got a boat access panel and cut a hole in the metal to gain access to the hose storage. I added a push-pull switch (again marine) in the area that all the other switches and water hookups are and spliced into a 12volt line by removing the wall in the garage to gain access to the wiring etc. I LOVE the macerator....NO MESS!!! Good luck.
