Lippert Recall 5200
I came across this on another forum. Did Keystone contact anyone about this, or are the Montana line not involved?
Lippert Recall 5200
CERTAIN LIPPERT TRAILER AXLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN MAY AND JUNE 2006 AND INSTALLED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FOR CERTAIN RECREATIONAL TRAVEL TRAILERS. DUE TO MISLOCATED SPINDLE WELDS, THE SPINDLE MAY PARTIALLY OR COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM THE AXLE TUBE AND THE WHEEL AND HUB ASSEMBLY MAY COME OFF THE VEHICLE.
Consequence Summary: SUDDEN AXLE FAILURE COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Corrective Summary: LIPPERT IS WORKING WITH THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS TO NOTIFY OWNERS AND WILL INSPECT FOR MISLOCATED WELDS AND REPLACE THE AXLE IF NECESSARY. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT THEIR VEHICLE MANUFACTURER OR CONTACT LIPPERT AT 1-877-870-4900.

Last I looked, I had Dexter axles under my Montana. I think they have only come with Dexter or AL-KO axles that I know of.

I don't believe any Montana's have Lippert axles. Earlier units had Al-Ko and beginning in 2004 they changed over to Dexter

That why I love this forum, you get the right answer here. I didn't even think about my axles being Dexter, I just thought about the frame being Lippert. Thanks for relieving my concerns.

I think I'll watch the mail... (2007 3400RL - 7/19/2006 build). I believe I have Dexters also, but it's good to have a heads up on this, Karl. Thanks.

Our late 2006 3400RL was built in April of 2006. According to the two manuals we received with the unit we must have received one AlKO axle and one Dexter axle. But who knows, they may be Lipperts. :-) But the spindles haven't fallen of yet with about 12,000 miles.

I have Dexters on my Montana and the owner's manual implies Montana's (at least in 2006) had Dexters. Since I am still in touch with my dealer and they are pretty good about contacting me about recalls (I had one on the fridge) so I am hoping they stay in touch.
If the trailer was purchased from a private party then contacting you could be harder. Maybe there is a website for Lippert to check if you are affected. I can't imagine this is something you HOPE doesn't affect you and you can find out for sure. Not having the problem, yet, does not necessarily mean you won't.
