Welcome to the forum!

Assuming you are not being sarcastic - there have been some members that have had electrical fires or overheating due to poorly secured connections on the 110VAC side.

I assume you asked question since you are considering ordering a FP. We opted against one...the logic being we could buy a portable heater (of the same size that we could move around) and have lots of storage under the TV where the FP goes. They look nice but, IMHO, hard to justify.

Bill,
On the other hand, we justified the loss of the 7x20x20 storage area for the fireplace. The additional heat and a little more romance are well worth that lost storage. Some days we turn the heater off and just enjoy the flames!...yeah, I know we're very extravagant!

sabeaulie,
To answer your question, yes, we did have problems with ours not heating properly. A call to the Dimplex 800 number and they sent the replacement part without charge. Here is the link: http://tinyurl.com/423msh

Our rig came with a fireplace. We've had the rig for about 6 years now and use the fireplace often. Sometimes it runs day and night for days. We have never had any problem with it.

But there have been others who have had problems.

We really enjoy the beauty of the fireplace and it does produce a significant amount of heat. We also bought a small portable heater to supplement the heating process. We seldom need or use the little portable job.

If and when we get another rig we will definitely get one with the fireplace.

Our logic was similar...and the storage area is huge. I use liquor boxes for storage (not just liquor) and have had six in that area under the TV.
