Progressive EMS in a 3950BR
We pick up our new 3950BR on Monday and I already have the EMS unit ready to install. Just wondered if anyone else has installed one on a 3950BR. Mainy wondering where you located the unit. I would like to install it so the monitor display can be mounted with the rest of the command center.
I installed the 30amp model on our TT, but that was pretty easy as the shore power cord pulled out of the camper from a port and was always connected

I had the ems-pt50c pedestal unit that I loved but because I'm putting in a transfer switch thought it would be a great time to hard wire a new one. Want to place the monitor where you do. Send pictures!

Our 3820fk power and control center is set up similar to yours I believe. Different location but similar in the power center is near the floor below the control center. I was able to fit the EMS behind/below the power center and mounted the display up in the controls area. Fishing the data cable from the top to bottom was tricky but doable. I removed the tank heater switch panel for access to the raceway that all the other wires run to/ from the power center. Drilled a hole just big enough for the rj45 connector and mounted the display low over the hole to just allow room for the cable. Looks pretty good.
Let me know if you go that route and I can work at getting some pictures up.

That will probably be how I do it as well. Any pictures would be great! I do have one question. Were you able to splice the EMS in or did you have to get a separate cable to complete the connection?

I bought a new length of 6/4 cable. Used about 3 ft. May have worked just cutting into the existing cable but that #6 cable is tough to work with so didn't want to risk coming up short. I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

See images below for display location, data cable routed below display, and data cable excess stowed near exit of power center raceway. I don't have any shots of the top end of raceway but once one of the other switch panels are removed it's pretty obvious.
As long as you have room for the EMS behind your converter it works out well.

If you install a splice in your wiring as i did then be sure and use a junction box for the splice. I bought a 4 inch square plastic box for my splice and screwed it down to the floor.

I have a 3950BR, just removed rear wall in basement on DS the power cable is right there. I had enough cable just cut it and installed the EMS. Then ran the wire for the readout through the hole with the rest of the wires going up to the switches in the control cabinet.

I purchased our EMS-HW50C this past December from Makarios. The price at that time was $308.88, delivered.

Got the EMS installed this morning. Here is where I located it. The thicker black cable is the 50 amp service. Had to undo one zip tie and then had plenty of the cable to cut and wire in the EMS box. Hardest part was just working with the stiff, heavy gauge wire. Appreciate the heads up from GLS3950 on where to locate the box in a 3950BR.

A couple people I've talked to have installed a second display in the UDC (where all the hookups are) so they don't have to go inside to check for errors. Has anyone done this?
