Slide out sequence

Good morning to one and all. I purchased my 3402 last year and the previous owner helped me set it up at my permanent site. This year I had extreme difficulty letting my slides out. I was attempting to let out the kitchen/living room slides first and it did not even try and move. After a half of a day tinkering we finally let out the bedroom slide first and then the kitchen/living room slides came out without incident.

I could not find anything in a manual that specifies a sequence in the slide outs. Is this typical of the 3402's?

Sequence has been different in all of our units. Commonality has been all downstair slides have been hydraulic and operated by a single switch. I would think individual slide weight would be the governing factor.

If these are all hydraulic then the motion sequence is..

1. Smallest slide will always open or close first ( usually the BR )
2. The two large slides will begin to move with the slide closest to the hydraulic
pimp fully closing first followed by the last slide that is farthest from the hydraulic pump

There is also an IRC ( individual room control ) that has a valve for each hydraulic slide that can be closed so that the slide will not move..

Also if this Montana never had the OEM 50 amp resettable breaker that runs from the battery area up to the dual polarity solenoid replaced this can open up and cause the slides to stop motion till breaker resets itself then move some more then trip again..

An 80 amp resettable breaker solves this issue

The kitchen & living room slides are on a single switch. The bedroom is on its own switch. The kitchen & living room would not move at all until I opened the bedroom slide. I thought this was extremely odd. Especially when I could not find anything on it at all...

Seems they go out with the slide with least resistance first followed by next in that sequence.

You didn't specify the year, but the 3402 is probably old enough to still have a manifold just off the hydraulic pump with a black knob on it for each slide. You would have to experiment to find out which knob is which slide, but by closing one or more knobs you can isolate slides to operate only the one or ones you want. Not the easiest arrangement, but doable if the need should arise.

And I agree with the 50 amp circuit breaker. You may never have a problem with it, but good to do a search on here for slides starting and stopping and do a little reading on it just in case.

Our 3402 has all hydraulic slides operated by the single switch and the bed goes first, followed by the kitchen then the TV slide and finally the large curb side slide. Operating the knobs behind the hatch where your leveling controls are will allow you to operate a single slide or restrict any or several slides.

On a 2015 wasn't the kitchen and dining slide hydraulic (as normal), but the bedroom was cable operated (i.e. electric)???
Why would operating the bedroom slide affect the hydraulic pump motor. Either an intermittent 50 amp breaker issue or a bad ground??

Good point. Our 2015 setup is just as described above. And separate switch for the bedroom.

My 2017 has 2 switches on the interior panel; 1 is for bedroom only, the other switch controls the other 4. The little hydraulic pump doesn't have enough flow rate to run all 4 at the same time and they operate first come, first served. Mine has the water and cable connections as well as the dump valves in the "basement" bay under the bed slide. The hatch door doesn't open up even to horizontal to keep from hitting the bed slide. This is my most disliked feature; I've bumped my head numerous times and spewed many curse words because of that.

On my Level-up control, there is an individual switch for each of the 5 slides, I've never used it but that might be an option for you if it's so equipped.

About the 80Amp breaker

Do you know if a 2020 Montana would have the 80 amp breaker. I have a 3231CK.

2020 had the 50 amp. 2021 was the changeover year.
