Birds eating edge of our roof

My 2019 305RL roof must have been appetizing for some birds. They ate a couple of sections on the side of the roof. The roof was recoated a year ago and the rest of the roof looks fine. Is this something that can be repaired DIY (minimal experience) or should I let a professional do it. Don't want water damage to destroy the roof. I read a lot of threads with great information but couldn't find anything on the roof. Thanks for anyone who can provide help.

I had a small tear from a branch one time, I used Eternabond and it lasted till I traded it in 5 years later, that stuff works great on roofs

I’d put a couple of layers of eternabond on it and call it a day, put a bond breaker on the plywood so the eternabond don’t stick to it. That what I would do.

I patched a small tear in mine with an Eternabond patch and helped others with both the patch or just the wide tape. Both have worked very well for a long time. I can't tell from your picture what that piece of trim is below the damage, but I would try to loosen it to get the patch behind it to ensure no water gets in.
Directions are pretty clear on both products.

Looks like a wood pecker. They like to peck on things that make a lot of noise, like our gutters. If it is a wood pecker the only way to git rid of him is to shoot him. And no I have never had to shoot one.
We have a rare red headed wood pecker visiting us. He doesn’t come to our feeder. We see him in the woods in front of our home along with a broad wing hawk just not at the same time.

Thanks for all your quick responses. I've watched some videos on eternabond tape and think I can get it fixed this weekend. Great website

Tore a hole in ours getting into a tight boondocking spot in Wyoming. Sealed with Eternabond as well. I always use plenty of alcohol to throughly clean before. No way it's coming off. I swear you could patch a submarine from the inside with the stuff.

If that was done by a wood pecker and it looks like it was he will probably be back especially if it was resent. It’s our experience they find a place they peck and use it for a few months. We have them pecking on our house several times a year.

I try to limit alcohol use while on the roof. It's a long way to fall
