Shower door

I have a three piece glass shower door and one of the glass doors broke. Any idea what that will run to replace?

Ours did not break, but I took them down. They kept falling out of alighnment and were a pain to get straightened up. After a while the wife said, "get rid of them and let's just hang a shower curtain." So I did.

We got a spring loaded shower curtain rod from Wall Mart and a pretty curtain from Lowe's. I put the glass doors in the loft of our garage, so if we ever trade the trailer, or sell it completely, the shower doors will be put back in. I left the frame for the doors in place.

And ..... we've been much happier since! It's so simple now.

Same here. Saved a bunch of weight too. Also much happier with the curtain.

Were the doors difficult to remove? We want to do the same thing. We are currently in an RV park in Florida for the winter.

One of my panels broke four years ago. We're using a shower curtain with great success. I'll probably remove the remaining two panels and the frame when we start full-timing next month. Someone suggested finding a glass shop to provide the "standard waterfall" panel, but I've not looked into it. Someone else sent me this (I haven't check it out): Ayana Byrd, Coastal Glass, triple bypass door, used by many camper, rv makers.

Even if you don’t install theirs here is a good video showing the process of removal. I still don’t have all of the caulk off. I’m working at it little at a time so as to not rush it and gouge the shower.

Broke the inside panel on last camping trip. Factory only sells as complete door assembly and runs approx $450 but shipping was around $175. Purchased single panel from local glass company and it was $147 tax and freight. Haven’t installed yet but looks fairly easy. (Famous last words).

I am kicking it down the road to replace our glass doors as well.
This retractable curtain door did draw my attention.
If I ever find some time for this project that's what I would do.

My wife is concerned that the retractable shower may not be strong enough if someone fell against it... or even just accidentally leaned on it a bit...

Does anyone with experience know how sturdy the panel is if you leaned up against it? Will it stay closed and in its track, or pop right out?

we also replaced ours with a shower curtain, I used a bowed rod, gave us a few more inches of space along with weight loss, ease of cleaning, etc

The doors were not hard to remove at all, just heavy.

Two screws hold the top rail in place. Remove those two screws from the uprights attached to the wall. Slide all 3 glass doors together and simply lift all three off with the rail they are all three hooked too and set them upright on the floor.

Now you can slide that top rail off all three doors and carefully remove them from the camper.

I had my son help me do this, as it really is a 2 person job, simply because of the weight and the bulkiness of the doors. Plus, having to hold them upright when sliding them from the rod that holds the rollers, it's a bit much for one person. And because they are heavy and bulky, you don't want to run the risk of breaking them, so while moving out section out the door, someone else really needs to hold the the remaining ones so they won't fall, break, or get in the way slipping around.

Once apart, and outside the trailer, they are not that hard to handle or that heavy. The 3 together was a bit much for this old man though.

If you remove them, you have to make a decision on what to do with them then. If you are throwing them out, no problem. If you are going to keep them, and you are full timing, storing them may be a problem. They are so big, there's absolutely no good place to store them or transport them in a camper.

Does a bowed rod not extend into the bathroom, allowing shower water to drip on the floor?

I just took a look at the Nautilus and I think that will be my replacement. I'm no more worried about someone leaning of falling against it than having the glass or curtain. In either instance, someone's going to the floor.

not if the curtain is long enough to reach the shower floor, we have 3" or so "curb" in ours, the curtain stays inside the shower, the extra room is at the top, where it is needed
