The bird has been officially evicted

Had a sparrow that decided to build a nest inside my pin-box. Scared the crap out of me when walking around the MHC … so, I put a stop to that

Out here in NM we've had a Road Runner try that several years in a row.

I can't tell what you put inside your pin box. Is that wood or foam block that you used? What ever you use it look's like a job well done. What I been doing is I put my cable inside the pin box when I disconnect from the truck. That takes up room so that why we have not had bird problem's. I am going to have a friend make me a cover out of strong canvas material when we store that trailer so nothing get rusty, wet or broken. Thanks for the information.

Trust me. That cable stored inside the pin box won't keep a robin and 3 eggs out. I just made a block out of 1.25" insulating foam board. Hasn't blown out in over 25k miles. Does kind of screw up storing the cable in there. I just wrap it around the pin box.

It's a piece of 1/32" sheet aluminum. I have always just wrapped the 7-pin connector cable around the pin box.

Yes this has been a problem for me for years as we park our camper close to trees where they hang out. I went with the large foam block that came in a package for something we bought. And has worked. But no to be out done they did this. Leaving for myrtle beach this week I started up the a/c`s to check operation after storage. I smelled some thing burning after about an hour and started to investegate. Finally went up to the roof and took the cover off the a/c and found this. The mother bird got traped aginst the base trying to get out I guess from the air pressure and died (top right corner). The staw around the compreesor was causig the compressor to over heat and smell. Now I have to put a/c covers on next year. Pain.

The Carolina Wrens like to build in my pin box. If they do and I don’t haft to use the camper I don’t bother them. We put up boxes on our back porch for them to build in. A pair has babies in one now. I love to hear them sing. We have at least 25 blue bird boxes up. The wood swallows use a bunch of them. Do go near when they have little they will get you.
