2012 F250 6.7 /short WB gas tank
Just traded my 2010 6.4 in for a new 6.7. Just noticed the fuel tank is only 26 gallons. Does anyone have some advice on increasing my fuel capacity? I can live with 26 gallons due to frequent pee pee breaks needes every 3-4 hrs but would prefer to carry much more fuel. What was Ford thinking?

Yet another reason for the long bed model. Many short-bed folks opt for the Transfer Flow 50 Gal. replacement tank. Fortunately for us they are fairly locally located. It might be a drive from OK.

Carl beat me to it - the long bed has a 37.5 gallon fuel tank, but it would be nicer to have more capacity anyway....

Was the 2010 a short bed?
I thought all short bed Fords back quite a few years only had 26 gallon tanks.

my 2012 f-250 short box 6.2 liter has a 35 gallon tank. ask your ford dealer if they can get you that tank. it is plastic the 26 gallon I think is metal. can't hurt to find out.

Gassers are different than diesels:
Fuel tank (mid-ship) 28 gallons (106L)
Fuel tank (plastic) 35 gallons (132L)
Fuel tank (Aft axle) 40 gallons (151L)

the undercarriage is the same. the tank should mount in the same location,the only thing would be the mechanics of the system if you can install the lines into that tank

Normally this would be the case, but the new 6.7L use the DEF. The DEF tank is only a 5 gallon tank but it takes up space.

Might try Titan Fuel tanks in a Google search. We installed one here for a customer that he had bought online and it was an easy install.

Bandit, a 'cheap' option is what I did on my '08 short bed. I have an aluminum tool box in the bed behind the cab. Inside that I have a 15 gal. fuel tank I purchased at Tractor Supply. This tank has a hose and valve on the bottom which I removed and plugged. I use a battery operated pump to transfer fuel from this tank into the truck tank. I use this as a backup in the event I find myself running low and there's no fuel close by. It's not as convenient as an automatic transferring tank but it was only about $130 total. When I'm not traveling I use up the spare fuel to keep it from going bad, then when I fill up for a trip I fill the spare tank too. This has worked pretty well for me so far.

I have a 78 gal "L" shaped tank that has been modified and I have it plumbed into the front filler neck of my truck.

I have a 2007 chevy crew cab that came with a 26 gallon tank. I finally opted for the Titan 52 gallon replacement. I love it.

If you just got the truck, I would suggest you try it before you change. I am getting almost 12 mpg pulling which means I can get in excess of 200 miles before looking to refuel. I don't know about you, but after 200 miles I am ready to get out of the truck and stretch. More importantly, go to the bathroom!

I addeded a 70 GAL Transfer flo tank. There are installers around the USA. I had mine installed in Austin TX when I lived there. Carrying 96 gal is great.. I select when and where I refuel (best price).
