Tank Level System Improvement

I have added a new tank level system to my RV called See Level Gages by http://www.rvgauge.com/rv.htm. It included 4 senders, one for each tank and two control panels ( The second panel was my addition). One for the inside and one located on the outside at the convenience center. It gives me level readings in % from 0% to 100%. Works great.

Oh, and while I was under there I fixed a black tank leak. It appears that the tank cracked just under the outlet. As shown in the picture.

Also I built a new panel board to organize all the new additions, you can see the See Level panel on the bottom left. We are going to install cork in the botton section for stuff to pin there.

Actually we are going to head to Texas in November to visit some relatives. No problem I can help you build a panel.

The signature line......... well people need to know.

Nice job!
I do hope the patch works; I haven’t had any luck when I’ve done that. Maybe I just didn’t use the right stuff. What did you use on the leak?

The repair was done with VersaChem. It is a two part epoxy, fiberglass kit for plastic and metal tanks. Move fast when you mix the resin/epoxy as it will harden quick.
I tried the Eternabond but it was useless. If you get moisture under it it will just not stick. Also as time goes on the liquid will work its way through. I needed a permanent solution.

One other thing I noticed is that the gray and black tanks will slide fore and aft about two inches. With liquid in the tanks that would put allot of stress on the outlet flange and piping. I did not support mine yet as I spent enough time under the RV doing these two projects. I will give it a bunch of miles then go back under to check the repair and support the tanks then.

Mel are you referring to the See Level?

If so I picked up the 709-4 panel and the 709-4PH. The 7094PH is installed at the convenience center so I have control over the water pump. I did a mod to the hot water switch and it controls the macerator pump. Had to bypass the circuit board because it will only allow 7 amps through it and the macerator uses allot more than 7 amps. I still have to changed the word on the panel from heater to macerator.

Thanks for the model number. Looks very interesting to me. How hard was the install?

The install was a little work as you have to open up the bottom at each tank. Some back pain involved. You need to make sure when you install the sender that you do it right the first time as they stick very good.
Just tape the sender on at first with masking tape then fill the tank. You want it positioned so that you read 100% just before it gets full. You may have to reposition the sender a few times. Our galley tank shows 100% and then there is enough room for 3 1/2 sinks full of water before it starts to back up.

Did you have to string new wires, or were you able to use existing wires?

Nice job on the install. At least we know where to go if the current OEM stops working. I could not justify the cost of this unit unless really needed. I just looked at the price of the See Level

All the senders tie into the same two wires. The OEM uses five wires this system only uses 2 of the five wires.

We boondock allot in Canada and the US so the tank levels are someting we need to watch. The OEM gray tank system (and black) always showed full, we new it was full when it backed up while you were having a shower.

I think it was worth the cost, I just keep telling myself its just money.

Mighty fine looking job. Good luck with those guages, they have to do better than the OEM guages.
