that is because it is not real Leather it is called Bonded leather that is bits and pieces of scrap leather made into a pulp then stamped with a leather pattern,Montana and everybody else can legally call it "leather" because it is made of bits and piece of it,if you want REAL lather you are gonna pay a chunk of change for it,but one thing I can tell ya my 2015 Franklin brand "leather" is way nicer than My Junk Flair brand "leather' on my 2012
