Here, take that!!

Saw a news headline, 'Pain at the pump'
Probably will state that gas prices will rise at the holiday.. (Shocker) like they always do, wouldn't it be great if everyone just didn't drive, or stockpile gas at the slightly lower pre-holiday prices.
Maybe they would get the message we don't appreciate being robbed..

Are you suggesting we stay home and not use the Monte, therefore not needing to purchase RV supplies from the OZ??

This is the one issue that keeps me thinking about getting an auxiliary fuel tank. The weight of the extra gas and the fact that the truck can last longer than I can between stops has kept me from doing it, but the way they do us on price makes it very tempting.

Diesel has not moved here but gas has jumped 9 cents today already and it's over a week away for the holiday yet. Going to fill my diesel cans for the farm up and the TV but won't do much of anything else. Just going to ride it out the best we can!

If you don't go anywhere, you'll definitely need Ozz's stuff. You need something to do while set up and not moving. I find it's very hard to fix something or replace anything while one is driving - well for me it is, some of you Superhumans shouldn't have a problem.

Diesel here just recently dropped to 3.809/gal.
Sounds about right for gouging again.

Here in Kansas City Missouri average prices are $3.598
BP: $3.49
Sam's $3.60 what's up with that?
QT $3.63
Shell $3.65

In Phoenix:
Shell $3.37
QT $3.39

I always thought the Kansas City area had the cheapest prices.
Wrong...

My folks live in Phoenix and their fuel is always lower than us.. but then again I live in Western New York.
At the moment our cheap gasoline is $3.67 (lowest octane), diesel is $4.12.

In Wichita, KS ... gas went up 12 cents a week and a half ago, 14 cents last Sunday night, and another 14 cents last night. $3.79/gal as I type. Diesel still $3.71 in a few places. Although predictable given the upcoming holiday ... this year the increase seems particularly aggressive ...

Be glad you're not out here in the boonies where gas is always 10-20¢ higher than in town. They have us by the ----- and they know it. When I was Mayor I used to get asked by out of town folks (mostly people who owned places at the lake) what our local gas tax was and when I told them we didn't have one they wanted to know why it was so high. I'd just say it's because they're screwing us. That usually ended the conversation, they didn't know what to say to that answer.

All it would take is for the people of the United States to stop for a month or so. Drive only when absolutely necessary and they may get the message.

People drive less, demand goes down, supply goes up, suppliers reduce production, supply goes down, price goes up. I think the supply side has it sorted out. If we drive we create demand and higher cost, if we don't drive, they cut production, resulting in higher cost. I don't think we really figure into the equation much.

I noticed that here in Utah they post the amount of tax for diesel on the pump. Maybe all pumps in all states show this but for some reason, this was the first time I noticed it. In any event, included in the $3.79 per gallon price are taxes totaling something just shy of .50 (evenly split between state and fed). My calculator says that is just over 13%
