Black Water Tank Flush

Any suggestions/recommendations about adding a black water tank flush spray head to my 2006 Montana??

Self-install or a trip to Camping World, or local RV dealer??

Mine has one from the factory, and I can see no benefit whatsoever. The sensor lights are still totally unreliable no matter how many times or no matter what method I use (and I've tried 'em all) to flush my black tank and keep it "clean" . I'd save my money for something that will buy you tangible results! Just sayin'....

My 2014 have the black water flush system, but it does not work nearly as well as filling the toilet completely full then flushing it all at once. doing that 3 times cleans a lot out.

we have one but I still fill tank 3 times in fall and dump. Think it works better than sprays. I also agree the sensor is useless, hasn't worked in years

I have been using the flush king and it works great. You can use it also to flush out your gray tanks and also the hose.

Been using our black tank flush since 06 and have never had a problem. Love the simplicity of it. I don't think you can ever get the tank full using the flush king and I don't want to drag a hose into the rig to fill the tank from inside or fill the stool several times to fill the tank. Having said that if it wasn't already installed from the factory I would never go through the effort to install one. Jim

I have always been happy with my built in flush. I think it does a good job. After draining the tank, I run the flush for a couple minutes with the drain valve closed, drain again, and repeat 3-4 times. Each time there is additional solids comes out until finally it is mostly clear water with no solids. The thing makes lots of spray noise inside sounding like it is hosing something down. And what comes out seems to validate that.

As far as installing an after market one, I have no idea.

Someone on this forum gave me the idea to calculate a full tank. Time how long it takes to fill a 5 gallon bucket from the hose. Divide the tank capacity by 5 gallons and multiply that by time to fill the bucket. This gives you how long it takes to fill an empty black tank. That's how long you can run the black tank flush with the dump valve closed without overfilling the tank. Using this method I get a pretty clean dump after two rinse fillings. Jim

the tornado black tank flush is easy to install...can do it yourself if you follow directions...I installed them on my SOB 5ers....just takes some time....

I use the OEM tank flush but run it while dumping and then close the gate valve and let the tank flush to fill the tank for about 10 minutes, then I open the valve again and repeat the process about three times. I do have separate gate valve at the end of the dump line and a Flush King attached to that that is removable when traveling down the road. After flushing the black tank the three oor four times, I turn on the Flush King and let it back flow into the black tank for about 10 minutes also. I then turn off the Flush King and let the tank drain. I use the galley tank to flush the line and then the shower/bathroom sink gray tank to totally flush the lines and it's done. Yes, it takes a lot of time but the water flowing out of the black tank is clear when I'm done and it is going into storage or extended non-use. I do keep all of the valves on the tanks close while in use and dump when they get full when the unit is in use.

I do the same as Rondo That's about how long I do it going on 4 years now and never had a problem with overfilling it takes longer than that to fill it

I use the flush king, also. Tried using the tank sprayer and discovered the stupid plastic back flow preventer up under the vanity sink leaked like a siv! One more thing for repair at the facility I use next month.

My way is similar. Drain the black tank, refill for about 4 minutes and then flush again, repeat about 3 times and then close drain and fill for about 1 1/2 minutes , put chemicals in and done.

Timed it Bill and it actually takes over 20 minutes plus to fill the tank completely. I also do as bigred715 and once flushed to my satisfaction, I let the flush run for another minute or two and shut it down. I then go inside and use the Happy Camper or if I'm on the roll that day I put a couple cups of Cascade Dishwasher soap with Dawn in the black and a single cup of the same in the grays. Several times a year I also add a cup of Calgon liquid to the tanks to create a little slickness to the inside of the tanks and it seems to help keep them cleaner and easier to dump/flush!
