First did it come loose rod and all? From what Ive seen here you have to lower the black belly and rethread it back onto the valve body. Hopefully it has a lock nut to keep it tight from now on. Hope this helps.

I have done it 2 times. I just sit on the ground and feel with the end of the rod until I find the nut, then screw it in. The 3rd time I dropped belly pan along the side so I could get my hand up to the valve. Then I put a jam nut on the screw part and then tighten it down. It won't come loose anymore.

I did what Dennis mentioned. It is a arduous task, but you can see when the rod is aligned similar to where it was. It took a while but since it happened, I regularly give all of the handles a spin to the right when pulling now and have not had another problem. I believe I would try some patience with fingers and toes crossed before I would start dropping the belly pan, but that is only because I prefer to do things the easy way (in terms of work that is). Good luck and let us know how you resolve the issue.

If you decide to drop the belly pan part way, look underneath near where the dump handle goes. Remove two or three of the screws you see going through the belly pan. Just remove enough you can pull it down enough to see in there with a flashlight or enough to get your hand in there to guide the rod into its receptacle. Good luck.

if the rod came out with the handle you can put some locktight on the threads and rethread it back on .the locktight should stop it from coming off again.

update. The handle somehow snapped at the threads and, the gas line is right below it do I have to cut the underbelly to get to it or lower the gas line wich looks like a nightmare. thank you

Welcome to the Galley Valve Handle Club(just joking).
Sometimes this is not fun! It happened to me twice & I applied Lock tite to it last time.
That ended the problem......seems to happen to everybody at one time or another.
I did cut a small door in the bottom material & installed a metal strap to close off. This helped to thread it back on.

You have no choice now but to drop the belly or cut it. When you install the new rod don't forget to add the jam nut.

Thanks for the feedback. If I take the underbelly down the gas pipe has to come down also. It would be easier just to cut it but ,is there a way to seal it up and not worry about mice, water etc.thank you

There is a video on Keystone/Montana's site that shows a tech cutting and re-taping a hole in the underbelly.

I will watch that video thanks. I did cut it yesterday and I found the reason why it snapped. The valve is right below the gas line so they had the rod bent to get by. If I cut a small piece of the angle iron I will be able to have the rod come straight out. thanks
