It also works on the new vehical side. We traded our truck for a new Toyota in November. Large dealership in Tucson, but they only had one new car on the lot. Put a thousand down on one that was coming in. Here we are after Christmas and even Toyota nationally can't or won't tell me when it will be delivered, but they do think it may be before the end of January.

Received a recall on my 2019 F350 for a fogging problem on the backup camera. They will let me know when the parts are available to fix it sometime in 2023!

I talked to the general sales manager at our local Ford dealer. He told me Ford will not have a lot full of cars at the dealers any more. Each dealer will have one of each of their cars. It will be one of the cheaper cars for people to look at. Then they can go home and build their car picking out what they wont and order it. They will make a offer which will go to the dealer. The sales manager will OK or reject the offer. If he OKs the offer he will order it from Ford. If it’s rejected the customer an make another offer. I ask how many auto manufacturers will be doing this. His response was “all of them”.

I’m not sure this is going to work. Most people like to go find the car they like. Most don’t know what they wont or need so how will they order a car that fits them. Most of the time it’s I like this color how much is the payment. When I buy a new vehicle I know exactly what I want and exactly what I will pay before I go to the dealer.
Do you think this will work and would you buy a vehicle like this?

Let me add after Carl said no.
When you order a car it will be delivered in three weeks.
Sorry I left that important part out.

No thanks. I think the current wait for an order in well over 6 months. If I need a replacement, I need it much sooner. And what about that 50,000+ unfinished trucks sitting in Kentucky awaiting chips and logos? They are 2022's and Ford has announced styling changes for the 2023s. If nothing else, I want to see a truck, up close and personal, to see the colors (both interior and exterior) in the light of day, not a computer screen depiction. Sounds like someone wants to do away with dealer lots size and salesmen.
