Running gen. when not at the 5er.

In cgs that have 8 to 8 gen operating hours we are often gone for that whole time period. My question is, if we need to charge batteries due to night time use would it be OK to only put enough gas in the Honda 2000 to run it for 4 hours to do the recharge.. Pros and cons solicited.

I have the same generator and let it run out of gas. I have had no problems but it probably isn't good practice. I say that because of power fluctuations as it is dying.

Several different years at Q folks have come back to find a cut chain and no generator. But that can happen when you're not running it and some of the thefts were when they were sleeping in the rig.

I see no problem with that. Yea someone could steal it. You could have a wreck. A lot of bad things could happen and that depends on where you are staying.

I see no problem. Might also consider some solar. I do not get too worried about losing it - have never had anything stolen from an RV in the boondocks or a campground. If the genny is running they will probably think you are home.
