Handling physical limitations when interviewing?

I have two vertebrae that hem in a bulging disc. I should not lift heavy (over 50 lb.) objects, and cannot stay bent over for long periods of time.
Other than that I am in pretty good shape. I am sure I could clean out fire rings, clean bathrooms, cut grass, etc, etc.
Have you enough experience with workamping jobs to say whether this will be a disadvantage for most camp hosting jobs?
Thanks for any inputs.
Larry

I have only limited experience to draw on, 4 years running a wood shop in 1 park that has about 25 or so workampers. I would recommend staying away from most maintenance and outside work depending on the job requirements of the park. Some of it can involve moving things, and other physically strenuous duties. The people oriented and office related jobs would probably be better for you if you can put up with doing that kind of work.
We had a couple of folks doing maintenance and gardening that had to find something else due to their back problems.
My neighbor has worked at a small federal campground and hasn't mentioned any heavy work though, mostly cleaning and registration.
Be sure to inform the the park manager and prevent any misunderstandings up front and get a thorough job description.

We have workamped and volunteered for Monterey County (CA), FL state parks, US Fish & Wildlife and the US Forest Service in different parts of the country and other than having to move a picnic table here or there have not need to lift anything heavy. Just make sure you let them know that you are not able to do heavy lifting at the time of your interview and you should be fine. Most camphosts don't have to do anything really strenuous.
