CA Nat'l Parks Trip Info

After a 1st year of FT being locked up in NM & TX we're finally planning our FIRST real road trip. The DW would like to go to CA Nat'l Parks. I've mapped out a route using GoodSam to take us through the following parks; Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Sierra, Yosemite, Stanislaus, Eldorado, Tahoe and Pyramid Lake. Is 395 from California City to Carson a good (easy drive) road? Should I be looking at a different route?

We plan to leave around April 1st come back to TX around Sep.1st. We then plan to head to Goshen for the fall rally.

From what I've read, we don't want to pull our 40' 3931FB through these parks. So we plan to camp outside and travel into each area. We have our Senior Passports to get into the parks. I'm also purchasing a generator so we aren't locked into campgrounds overnight.

Since this is our first trip (newbie), I'd like to hear from more seasoned folks. What am I overlooking and need to consider? Thanks
