You've got the EZ-Lube hubs, right? Since your rig is an '07, it's nice to know they last that long & still look good as I've seen a few posts of folks here and there saying they weren't good for more than 'X' number of miles. Guess they weren't taken care of that well. Sometime this winter I'm going to start pulling drums to take a good look at the brakes - that's my current worry as we've rolled about 25-30k miles since we bought '10 three years ago. Will probably replace the whole assembly & seals, but only check the bearings & re-grease them after putting everything back together.

I think you already know this and just eluded to bearings, but it's not a good practice to run new bearings in old races no matter what the look of them are.

Walt, I was surprised they looked good and the surfaces were so nice, but I have seen only one. I would hope they all look like that. A good idea to check in on them occasionally, I think I am long overdue. I was surprised the brake shoes were good, not to adjust them.
Take care Walt.

I checked them over real good, and with my experience as a machinist, I think I will be Ok. If I am wrong, I will be the first to admit it.
Thanks for the heads up on it.

When the race gets worn or burnished, it's a good idea to replace.

True, my races on that first wheel was perfect, no grooving, mirror finish I used a small flat-edge I it and it was perfect, I would have changed them if they were not.

MorRyde recommends that they be repacked every 15 thousand miles.

Hi OZZ
I agree with you if on inspection they show no signs of wear or corrosion reuse them
I did the same about a year ago on the wheel of a large machine that handles heavy off road loads; the race passed my inspection so I installed a new $380.00 cone and didn’t purchase the $270.00 race. The machine has been running 5 days a week about 10 hrs a day since without a problem.

Thanks Phil,
I know that many folks change the bearings when they are really well used, I probably should have just re-packed them as everything looked so good. I bought them in advance, so just went ahead and changed them
Wow, that machine was a big one, you work on some interesting machinery.

Case articulating farm tractor, fabricate muffler and seal steering cylinders.
Cat 930 loader, wheel and tire assembly 420 lbs planetary cage 60 lbs planetary ring gear the one with the big expensive wheel bearing on it 90 lbs hub 150 lbs.
Cat IT28F tool carrier, sealed upper tool cylinders 4 inch diameter pistons.
This is all agriculture equipment the loader runs daily loading feed, silage etc and operates from sunrise for about 11 hours the unit is left idling while the operator take an hour for lunch.
The tool carrier has both bucket and forks the tool can be changed by the operator without getting out of the machine this one only operates about 6 to 8 hours a day.
When they call me to work on equipment it is like calling OZZ to work on your air conditioner. LOL
