wowee it takes all kinds

I frequent the open forum on Trailer Life from time to time and decided to post about our camping experience this past weekend. Big mistake! I posted about a 'not so kid friendly campground' and I was blind sided by another members responses. She basically attacked me - I was shocked. I think I will stick to this happy forum - the people are much nicer.
So now on to my point for this post - we have been camping in FL for a few years now and frequent the same spots over and over again for the most part. Can any of you recommend some nice, clean kid friendly campgrounds. We tend to stick to Tropical Palms, Jetty Park and Elite Resorts. I am looking for places in Central Florida.
One more question - are there Florida Rallies that are also family orientated?

sixcampers, you are right about those other forums. Some folks just lay in wait, looking for some way to slam a member. They can be viscious. Fortunately, we've had none of that on this forum.

I was interested in your comment about Elite Resorts. We plan to spend next January at the resort in the Ocala Nat'l Forest. Looks like a nice place. Have you been there?

Elite Resorts is a nice campground. It is not a real quiet campground because there are trails for off road vehicles like dirt bikes and four wheelers right outside the park. Not to give the impression that they are screaming through the sites because they are not but lots of people do camp there for the trails. You can however hear the boats and waverunners on the lake.
There is a lake for fishing and boating, two swimming pools one for adults and one for kids and families, a clubhouse with pool tables, playground, general store, nice little restuarant, cottages for rent - nicely maintained, they have a flea market on Saturdays (not sure if they do that in the winter months) and all the sites are wooded. It is in the Ocala National Forest so I guess you guessed it would be wooded
There is not a lot of shopping outside of the campground unless you do not mind a drive of 30-45 min. Oh and they do allow contained fires at the sites. We like to winter camp at campgrounds that allow for campfires.
This is one of my husbands favorite places to camp.

I think we can thank our Admins and Moderators for keeping that out of this forum. We have had a few instances of this kind of behaviour but our A's and M's have been quick to stop it. My thanks to them all for keeping this a nice place to be.

Thanks for the info on Elite. We thought it sounded like a nice place and it has good reviews on the internet. My sister-in-law has rented one of the cabins since they don't have an RV. It allows us to camp with them with us in our Montana. We'll use it as a base camp to see a lot of the rest of Florida so if it's noisy, we'll just head down the road. Thanks for sharing.

Most of the noise comes from the lake. I would imagine it is quieter during the winter months. We will be there the third weekend of this month.
