Do you know a good place to stay near Fresno?

Heading to Palm Springs from Vancouver BC soon - have a couple of places picked out for overnight stops but can't find anything worthwhile around Fresno Ca on Hwy99 - anyone out there recommend a good overnight stop off Hwy99? - paying campground, Casino, Boondock, whatever???

You're right there don't seem to be a lot of places around Fresno. Just south of Fresno near Kingsburg there is a park on Hwy 99 on a river. The campground was recently bought and redone so it should be in great shape. There was an article in a magazine that talked about it but I don't remember which one. And I've never stayed at the park.

A bit further south is the town of Pixley. There is a nice park there also just off the road. A friend of mine has stayed there and he recommends it. Don't remember the name but it's the only one there and they have good signage.

Also if you make it as far south as Bakersfield, which is 100 miles from Fresno, you are welcome to park overnight in our driveway. We have a 50amp hookup with water connection. We also have a sewer connection if you need it.

There are also several nice parks in and around Bakersfield.
