Retired at last and the journey begins

Retirement started last week. We are in process of moving to Texas where the grandsons are. We leave on Tuesday with the rental truck and my car(towed behind). Then we fly back on the 31st to get the truck and monty. Then we will make a more leisurely trip to Texas. We plan to be in Nevada for the Rally and are looking forward to meeting all of you. We have been full timing for 3 months. We sold our house faster than we thought, so just moved into the 3400RL and haven't regretted it. Still sorting and refining what we absolutely have to have. But then there is no rush!!! See you all soon.

Best of luck on retirement. Nice to have the Monty as a back up hotel when the house moves faster then expected. We had lots of nerves selling our house.
Good luck and safe towing.

Great news! Glad your house sold so rapidly. That is much better than languishing on the market for months. The quick turn-a-round move to Hong Kong has taught us that not much is really needed. All that we have was carried in six suit cases, each with a maximum weight of 70 lbs., and two carry-on bags. We did ship one 60 pound box of winter wear. "Needs" can become so simple when necessary. Happy Fulltiming.....

Sorry you are leaving our area. But I understand. WE never did meet although we are almost neighbors. Have a great trip followed by a great retirement.

Welcome to the Lone Star State....where will you be located? If far enough south you will enjoy the winters, but the summers are really tough, might want to take the Monty back to Washington from June-October.

When you get settled in and if you are in this area or vice-versa would like to get together.....we have friends that live at Port Angeles and Snohomish.

Hi Charlie.. we will be in Bastrop (30 miles east of Austin). We plan to summer in the NW (June through Sept) and pick up some perdiem work at my previous clinic (to help pay for the diesel). Most of the time we will be at Samish Island at our church campground. We will volunteer some hours here as well, in between other jaunts. We have had a wonderful summer here. Our other landing spot in the summer is Beachwood Resort at Birch Bay.

Myrna, we'll be spending some time in Fort Worth in the future, Lord willing, as our two granddaughters are there. We'll have to talk at the rally. We used to fish at Lake Bastrop when we lived in College Station.

Congrats indeed Myrna. Enjoy the new life... but do think of avoiding that heat in the Tay-hass summer.. Brutal.

Ain't it great?? Getting up in the morning with nothing to do and going to bed at night with it only half done. Can't get any better. ENJOY!

Thanks everyone... we loaded the Penske rental truck today and the car is on a dolly behind it. Now if we can just get out of bed tomorrow, we will be on our way. We will be out of touch until we get to Bastrop. Looking forward to Nevada...

Congratulations! We retired a year ago and it seems like it's only been a few weeks. We've been on the road for over 7 months now and we still love our 3400RL. Life is good!

Congratulations! Boy, are we jealous! Would like to say "wish it were us", but life is too short to wish any of it away...even the last few years before retirement...but we need a LONG vacation. Sometimes feels like we have had one when we come in here and read the lastest posts! Love hearing about everyone's adventures...soon we will be posting our own! We were leaning toward the 3685, but decided to check out the 3500 that we saw on the lot earlier this week. Went back last night and it was gone! SEVERAL were missing from just two days ago...what's up with that?? Will there BE a Monty for us when the time comes??
