Yeah I didn’t think it was a good idea lol. But there was a lot of people doing it. Personally I wouldn’t but good to know it is not recommended by the manufacturer!! Thank you for looking into it and providing the answer.

Beeje....Everyone, be aware of the (light weight) Anderson hitches in an accident/emergency situation. They are NOT what they are cracked up to be.

So tell us Andersen owners what we should be aware of and what pray tell are they cracked up to be, that you have experience and engineering knowledge of............. I thought so.

Look, I'm not here to beat you Andersen owners up at all. Just merely to inform you that there have been reported failures of that hitch. You can take that however you wish.

I'm also not here touting that my curt hitch is the best hitch to use. I'm sure it's not.

But if someone was to post multiple failures of my Curt hitch I would certainly be paying very close attention to that.If those reported failures kept on coming I would certainly be removing that product from my use for the safety of myself family and those around me.

Look at what happened with the s t Chinese Tire blow-up debacle. It took years to convince people to get them off their trailers before they blew up and destroyed it. Yet the threads about that continue on today

Ok, so now all Anderson owners are forewarned that if they run into a brick wall or improperly install their hitch it may fail.

Misinformed, lying, sensationalizing, twisting the facts, need to spend more time chasing the wife around the kitchen, just can`t stand there is a better way, it all ads up.

I have not done any of the above. I have simple informed the users/owners of a product that has multiple reports of failure. The info is right in your face, all you got to do is look for it. If you choose to ignore it then so be it.

Same setup only in a F-450. BW companion 25k. My truck is a dedicated tow vehicle, so I don't take the hitch out regularly.

I had two B&W, one slider and one non-slider so hand down B&W is a good solid hitch, goodluck on whatever you go with.

I have a F350 dully long bed and over 15 or so years and 4 5th wheels I had alway used a Reese hitch, that is until we got our 2018 Montana 3731FL. At which time I found that with the extra length and weight increase I had more bounce and pin movement than desired. After much research and reading on the Montana post I decided to give Curt a try and went with a much larger size than I really needed. I have a Curt 26K hitch and could not be happier. Granted it is heavy, however my truck has only one purpose and that is to pulled 5th wheels and it is never taken out of the bed. Should it have to come out, I have a son-in-law who can handle that job by himself and likely lift the entire truck (OK I may be over the top of that that expecation)

We also have an F350 long bed with factory system. I have the B&W 25k and like it just fine. No problems.

Best fifth wheel hitch option

I installed the Resse 20k goose adaptor.
With the puck system you are already half way there and if you use your truck for anything other then hauling your trailer it is a must. No heavy hitch to remove from your bed and it is secure as soon as you drop it on the ball. Best investment I made.

B&W is great. Heavy, but take upper part off and it's not bad.

I have the PullRite Autoslide and like it, but I had two previous B&W companion hitches and loved them. So simple, no clanking noises, no slop, and made in the USA. Customer service is top notch. I don’t think you will find a complaint of a B&W.
