1st RV
Getting an '03 tomorrow night or Friday morning. It's like new, will be staying in W Kentucky 'til our '02 Dodge 3500 Diesel 5 speed dually is ready. Thinking about getting an adapter for the heavy gooseneck hitch already on the bed. Would appreciate hitch and parking recommendations.

Welcome aboard! Don't get a goose neck attachment, they aren't good for the trailer. Goose neck adapters like Andersen Ultimate or Pullrite 2600 will work well. Also, a standard 5th wheel hitch that mounts to the GN ball is a good option. I like the Demco Recon for it's weight. There's always the expensive Goose Box as well.

Welcome, Rider. Is the truck a long or short bed? And for parking recommendations do you mean as in practicing towing?

Welcome to the forum. I use a PullRite fifth wheel single Point. It mounts to the goose ball. pulled a 16,000lb 5er thru the rookies. Happy travels

I own a 2003, it's been a real learning experience. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to get up on the roof. I found out the my roof, which I thought was in great shape was NOT. Get down on you knees and run the palm of your hand over the surface a few times hard. Take a look at you palm. If you see a lot of black your roof membrane is most likely reaching the end of it's life. The UV is not nice to our trailer roofs. And being a 2003 yours maybe reaching that point. I guess if it's been stored inside you might be fine. Just saying.

I have an '02 and the roof is in great shape. I purchased the rig in 2016, previous owner had coated the roof with Dicor. I coated again right after purchase. I got 5 years on the coating, just did it again, looks new.

That is what I did also, applied Dicor. I got lucky and was on the roof with knowledgeable RV tech who educated me. If not I’m sure I’d lost that roof.

Agree with roof recommendations.
My roof is nearly 3 years old and the roof lap sealant needs refreshing already.
After taking care of hitch and safety issues such as tires and wheel bearings, make the roof #1.

'02 Dodge 3500 dually. Cummins 5.9L H.O. (285 hp, 555 lbs ft torque) turbo Diesel, 5 speed, 3.73 axle ratio. Have 235/85/17 Michelins, getting 17" steel wheels, EBC rotors & Extreme pads. Probably a gooseneck adapter.

Anderson hitch
I have a long bed truck and pulled a 336BHS Cougar at about 14,000 loaded. Currently pull a 3231 Montana with no issues on either one. I have the Aluminum frame hitch that weighs about 40 lbs and at 65 its nice to install and remove.

I, too am 65. Until very recently I'd think nothing of picking up and carrying 80 lbs across our field (~100 yards). Now back & hip pain barely let me carry a cup of coffee 10'.
