Entrance door

Hello everyone,
We have a 2018 keystone 3660rl. The past couple of days the door has become hard to close. At a closer look I noticed it’s setting a little uneven and hitting at the top corner where it’s making a mark. The hinges look fine but it is not setting level for some reason. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks

It may be the leveling system if you have one

Ya what he said. Do you have 6 or 4 point leveling?

Bring your slides back in and relevel your unit. In a lot of cases this is the problem when a door will not close properly or hard to close. The frame twists just enough to throw the door jam out of whack just enough to cause problems.

I’m very new to camping. So the slides need to be in when leveling? Because, I auto leveled again and it still was in a jam.

In addition to try leveling and adjusting camber, here's a thread on the same problem with a number of potential causes and solutions.

https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...ad.php?t=87428

Your door might have a different cause for interfering but for us, it was that most of the screw holes for the door hinges were stripped allowing the top of the door to tilt and hit the frame like yours. (It appeared the self-drilling screws used on the hinges were overtightened at the factory and were not holding to the sheet metal bracket inside the door.) I replaced the screws with larger diameter ones and then to strengthen the assembly, added the all thread fix described by IRollman in post 23.

If you look at your upper door decals, there may be an 1/8-3/16 inch gap at the top between the decal and door surround. I was able to clamp the door surround and get the gap to near zero which gave me the clue that the door had tilted - when I tried tightening the hinge screws, most of them would just spin.

The fix is still working. Also, keeping the door hinges lubed with WD40 or graphite lock lube also helps reduce the back drag from the friction hinges. When the hinges dry out, the friction hinges will cause the door to flex as described by IRollman and others. Some members have replaced the friction hinges with regular, non-friction ones.

Good luck, safe travels!
