Light under outside steps?

Has anyone modified the outside little yellow light that is under the steps to be on a switch instead of being connected to the right side scare light?

I would like to be able to turn this light on by itself when we leave to make it easier to use the steps at night without the scare light on.

Any thoughts or methods you found/used would be appreciated.
Scott

Just venturing an answer here ... terminate the existing hot wire to the step light. The porch light switch is easily accessed by removing the main switch panel on the inside wall. Run a new power wire up thru the floor above the step light, route it up thru the inside wall, then tap into the load side of the porch switch. The existing ground to the step light can be left untouched.

I was going to do that, but when we got to Goshen early to have some work done we were invited to view the vendors that were there for the previous Rally. We bought a motion activated LED light to replace our porch light and that solved the problem. Now we don't have to remember to turn the porch light on before we leave and when we get near the rig it comes on and it's easy to see all around the steps.

We didn't have an outside porch light...we have an older unit. We fished a wire for the control panel at the stairs to behind the stairwell where we drilled a hole and installed a porch light.

I added one to ours as it came without. Ran wire from switch on wall panel. Ground to frame. Relatively easy. About 1 hrs work. Larry

I have never opened up the control panel or wall in the basement to see the inside layout. Is it easy to run a new power wire from the control panel to the area under the outside steps to power this light? Not sure how much room is available under there.
