At what pressure should you use a pressure regulator?

About 50 psi is max in most discussion circles.

We ALWAYS attach our water regulator...regardless of what the campground advertises their pressure....

VERY wise move IMHO! We do the same. What a mess it would be to blow a line in the rig. Then there would be the effort to fix it ...

We have ours set at 40 psi...and turn the water off at the part source when leaving for the day. Don't want a line in the trailer breaking and leaking when we are gone.

We have one that's fixed at about 40psi. I've had a couple of these fail before, so I added a gauge that reads how much pressure is present and of course the thing hasn't failed since. When it does I will replace it with a better unit with adjustable pressure to increase to about 50psi. I think the 10psi gain will be better especially at the shower which seems to be a little light. I do intend to get an Oxygenetics shower head but I also need more pressure other places too. If I increase the pressure, then I might not need a new shower head. I am not in a hurry for this, but I will definitely use some pressure regulator at all times along with a water filter system.

I use a variable regulator. I keep it at 60 psi and have for four years. Much of the time the campground's pressure is not that high.

John,
That's a nice looking setup you have for your water.
Stiles,
I have a variable pressure device also and keep mine set about the same as you. So far it has worked just fine.

Ditto Stiles and Dennis here, adjustable regulator set at 60 psi.

Our pre-set regulator is at 40 psi and we keep it located at the unit. I know many people put the regulator at the source but we have found that the supply is better because of less pressure drop from the hose restriction. Been working well for us for years and have never popped a hose.

Does anybody have a variable water pressure regulator they would recommend?
I have seen a few that looked pretty cheap.

Go to www.rvwaterstore.com/ and you will see a menu on the left where pressure regulators are lister. This is where I purchased mine. Works great.

I bought the adjustable regulator with gauge from Camping World. It now is useless...Chinese crap! Iwill go to Menards or Lowes for a commercial one!

Here is the one that I use, no problems to date anyway:
RV Adjustable Pressure Regulator
Not an endorsement, just letting it be known what we are using

Bingo,
Yes, same one as Camping World......maybe I can repair? It's like sticking...sometimes very low pressure & the incoming pressure is good.

Sounds like some kind of blockage. Haven't looked at it to see if dis-assembly would be straight-forward. I know if it was me, before I gave up on it, I would be operating on it. They are pretty simple devices, so I would not think it would be too hard to check them out before discarding. Might get lucky??
