Discontinued Travel Trailers
I can't believe it!! They are no longer making Mountaineer travel trailers!! I was really looking forward to the 2009 35RET. Their other high end units are Outback Sidney edition... What a sad joke. Went to the Indianapolis Travel show yesterday and looked at a Sydney edition. CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP!!! These units are NOTHING compared to our Mountaineers!! So it looks like Keystone does not make a high end travel trailer anymore. I know some people say... Why not go to a 5th wheel? Well, I have a 2006 Avalanche 2500 with the 8.1 liter engine!! (can't pull a 5th wheel due to bed) What a bad decision for Keystone!

Mountaineer Travel Trailers are just on hold for a while till things start rolling a little better. Let your dealer know you still want one and have him forward it to Keystone. Things are just a little tight in RV industry as everybody knows. Kerry

Glad to hear that Keystone really didn't quit making Mountaineer TT, they just put them on hold. We really like the 35RET. Opposing slides on a TT! Couldn't wait to see it. We like our 3266FKBS but were holding out for opposing slides and Keystone almost delivered.

Kerry,
I got my info from Keystone directly. Brittany was the one that I talked to, sh eis the one that said travel trailers were discontinued. The way she talked... it was permenant. The dealer taht I bought my 2006 from said the same thing.

My Rep told me as of now they are finishing up on the 34DBT. After that they were not going ahead with the 35RET at this time. Later on in the year when things pick up they should start production again. They sure have a lot of new fiberglass front caps at the factory. I have several customers who want the 35RET. I would say if the demand presents itself they'll come along. Kerry

The bottom line is that people are not buying them...if they were, Keystone would still be making them.

How can people not buy something that was never produced(35RET)? Keystone pulled the plug before they were built.

I agree with you on that. I think the dealers cause all the problems there.

I think all businesses are having to make hard decisions. I know we are at my house. Hopefully, we will have a recovery and things will improve. Until then its just tough keeping your head above water. We love our Mountaineer Travel Trailer and hate to see production stop. Hey, maybe ours will become collectible and will increase in value. Yea, right.

Amen to being fond of our Mountaineer. I guess we'll just keep it and enjoy it more.
SAndreason - question for you - did you have any trouble mounting the Hensley Arrow hitch to the short tongue on your Mountaineer??
When we picked up our 2004 305FKS, the dealer had to weld the brackets on the tongue for the Equalizer brand hitch we have, as there was no room to use the bolt on frame bracket - battery box's were in the way and then the front cap extended out far enough to limit moving the batteries.
Just wondering - thanks
Ed

Follow the money. If they could sell them and make money they would make them. Obviously they've done research and some type of market survery and decided it's not economically feasible to make them at this time.

We were planning on trading our Mountaineer 5er in on a Mountaineer tt this summer. It looks like we will have to do some more looking.

My wife and I really love our 335RLBS! When we first saw the floorplan on the 35RET we were considering a trade up. We love the Mountaineer TT because of all its amenities plus it allows me to keep the cap on my Dodge 3500 DRW long bed. This gives us plenty of room to put items such as bikes, lounge chairs, grill, etc. When we pull into a site, we are able to set up in minutes without having to unload to get into the camper.
We know times are difficult, but it would be nice to see Mountaineer TTs back in the future. In the meantime, we will continue to thoroughly enjoy our wonderful unit and keep travelling down the road...
