Good question. The real problem is that the heavy metal and rare earth elements necessary for the more efficient types of bulbs are mostly controlled by China who is restricting the export of those elements forcing the price of the alternatives to rise dramatically. We may have to go back to candles due to the cost of bulbs. Oh that's right we get those from China now also

I think it's the higher wattage bulbs that will go first, seems I remember reading a schedule somewhere but with "CRS" I don't recall where. I think the phase out is over a period of time.

I really.do not like the.new curly.types, their lite is odd and.they are.more dangerous...
Some of our coaches bulbs may.be.replaced.with led, but if we wish to keep the "ambiance" or simply see, the.incandescent seem to be the best... The fp I believe.has 2, the.fixture above.the.sofa and the fan, they are each different... I just wish.we would go back to having a choice!!!

I agree with you about choice. Too much "helpful" legislation. However, we have replaced all our interior lighting, both 12 V and 120 V, with LEDs. We do have one lamp with a fluorescent "twisty". Electricity consumption has dropped and the warm LEDs we use make the lighting very similar to the incandescent hue, very pleasant and comfortable to the eyes. I have not changed the Fireplace bulbs to LED, but I suspect it will work with the reflectors well. The LEDs are my choice now.

In the event of breakage, the gases released are highly toxic, more so than the old fluorescents... If I am FORCED to change, I would go LED but will not want the curly ones in the coach... MHO !

My main concern is to also improve and increase the lighting... I guess I will try some LED's and see, however the fireplace may.look odd with "white" flames... lol !

The LED "warm white" gives off the same yellowish color of most incandescent bulbs.
