Baggage Door
Hey Keystone, how come you don’t put a swing door instead of the pull up (HEAD BANGING) door underneath slides? Come on, make it camper friendly.

My head was seriously numbed by the head knock on the controls cabinet door in the hallway that i left open and then it didnt hurt as much when i hit my head on the bedroom slide and the baggage door under the slide.

Bedroom slide and dining room awning arms get me. I use pool noodles on the bedroom slide and clothes pins with ribbons on the awning arms.
As far as the doors opening horizontally,
Where we currently are, I would not be able to open the left side no more than a foot or so before hitting my neighbors picnic table.
Some Campgrounds are pretty tight.
Opening vertically is no problem.

I did the Pool noodles on our other fifth wheel, I’m 6’2” and always hitting my head. The new 3231 CK bedroom slide is high enough for me to walk underneath, but when I’m digging around in the basement (drivers side) I still bang my head on the baggage door. Just think they could make it more friendly by using a swing door, they could even split the door in two.
Thanks for the info Steve

At one time Montana's came out with the swing doors BUT they had a problem with them leaking and not being able to get a solid seal to keep water out of the basement area and that is why they went to the up-swing doors. Also at one time both sides of the unit going into the basement has the Up-swing doors but they have eliminated the struts holding up the curbside door and put magnets on it to keep it open. I've done that to my 2013 3582RL and it has helped so I don't have to bend over far to get things out of that side. Improvements are slow coming but they do come along and there are folks from Keystone Montana watching this Forum for suggestions. Maybe they will come back and answer your question. Until then invest in stock in swim noodles and keep your "noggin" in tack!

My first Montana was a 2006 model. It had the side swing doors, if memory is correct. I had no problem with it and I don't think it leaked much. But I only travel in the summer and most places it doesn't rain that much summertime. I would gladly take them now, as I can barely get into the storage area without bending over a lot.

I know it can be done, our previous fifth wheel 2015 Cameo had a spilt swing door and never had a problem with it leaking. I thought Keystone Montana brand was a trend setter and set standards that others try to keep up with. I hope some one from Keystone reads this and makes a response. In this day and age with all the technology out there, I find it hard to believe you (keystone) couldn’t make a single or spilt door for the baggage/basement access where there is a slide above it. COME ON KEYSTONE make the access to the basement easier. I love the access on the curb side, it swings all the open you did that right
Thanks for listening and any input you would like to make.
