Fixing an old friend

Whenever I have a bad day, or I am very tired and on my way home, I always think how nice it will be to be back in my chair.
I nap in it, my lap cat Rowdy waits for me to get settled in, before he jumps up, greets me and curls up for a snooze. I have meals in my chair, not well mannered I suppose, but very comfy.
I rehabbed an end table to hold all the remotes; one for the big Sony, one for surround sound, DVD recorder, a second TV, so I can watch two programs at once, while I’m recording two other programs, and finally, the satellite receiver. Oh, I built another shelf for salt, pepper, aspirin and napkins. I added a glass holder on the side for Sue’s drink as well.
Back to my recliner, one of the bushings failed, the result of that is that the footrest of the chair would have to be ‘assisted’ by me pounding it back in place with my heels. Now this irritates me every time, that probably irritates Sue, and startles the cats…not good.
I called the furniture store where we bought my comfortable recliner to buy the mechanism, to my surprise they said they would ship it to me and have the repairman install it.
I told them I would be installing the new parts. I do think I heard the guy chuckle, not sure….. But they sent it free of any charges, nice for a 4 year old chair.
I went about assembling all the tools necessary for the work, proceeded and found they sent different bolts and self tapping screws, naturally 4 of them were no good, so I had to drill the holes out and put different bolts in.
After I got it all together, I reclined the chair and the exact plastic bushing popped out of the hole!!!!
So, I performed and Ozz mod on it with a clamp and self tapping screw. Works good now, Sue, the cats and I will be much happier.
I just made a big pot of Chili, going to eat that and fall asleep in my chair while watching NASCAR……The good life.

Oh, how I (and Sharon) relate to "my chair". My only problem now is how to get my 52" TV into my rig.

We have our chairs too With hubby being 5'5" it is hard to find a recliner that will fit his short legs. I am on a search for a replacement for his "favorite chair" right now. If all else fails I will have to have his recovered.

We are in Nashville right now having a great time. We left the rain in Texas, talked to a neighbor and it has rained every day since we left on July 18th. The temperatures have been in the low to mid 80's. I love it when the weather god is shining down on you.
