Washer/Dryer
When you buy a new Montana and they say they are preped to take a washer/dryer do you have to do anything else to install it ie electrics or water. We are from the UK coming out in August first time RV's.

Our Montana evidently was prepped for a washer dryer. The only thing I had to do was make the hole for the vent. The electric plug was there and the water hook ups as well as the sewer drain. Concerning the wall, there was a sticker, which indicated the wall was to be used for placing the dryer vent on it. It was indicated to me that this wall is built so that you wouldn't get into any wires or studs when drilling the hole for the vent. Some washer/dryer combos are made vent less but other people on this forum indicate they don't work as good as one that has a vent.

Yep - what Bill said.
The prep gives you the drain and hot/cold faucets. Venting is not provided, but the area is designed to accept a vent.
Prior to 2006, only select models were prepped. In 2006, all Monty's were prepped, either in a stackable closet near the door or in a combination closet next to the bedroom closet.

Our Monty was prepped for w/d and we had the Splendide installed. The only thing they had to do with the unit was cut the hole for the vent. All went smoothly. After reading the forum before we went with the vented version over the ventless and are very happy with the results. it takes small loads but we can do a load a day and keep up easily.

I would also like to mention the way the wd drains. Our model 3280 drains into the grey water tank and some of the newer models "must" have the outside sewer drain open to drain. Otherwise, they do not drain into a tank. Make sure you know if you must have the sewer drain open to use!
Also, if you drain into the grey tank, make sure you empty it before it runs out onto the floor! Experience talking here!!!!!!

The new models drain directly to the dump pipe. Not into any tank like older models. We overflowed the gray on our 2003 Montana a couple of times.
On the older ones, w/d prep was an extra cost option available on any Montana that had a location to put the w/d. I was not aware all Montanas are now w/d prepped until I read this thread. I guess that got absorbed into one of the price increases.
Water connections and drains are there. As others said, the location for a vent should be marked. Your dealer can install them for you and take care of the vent. At least ours did.

I don't beleive all the new models drain direct, just the mid closet models that accept the stackables. It is my understanding the forward closet models (combos) still drain into the tank, most being the gray tank which is the most forward tank.

Our (built in May 2007) 3400Rl was W/D prepped and we had the stack ables installed by the dealer. I prefer dealer installation for warranty purposes. As stated, the drain is directly into the discharge pipe so you MUST be hooked up to sewer to run the washer. I have heard, but cannot verify, that the dryer is capable of 240V, and that it will dry a lot faster than 120V. That would be another cost option to run that line as it is only prepped for 120V. Drying is very, very slow. We have the vent going to the outside.

Question concerning the electrical for the w/d. Is it a dedicated circuit? We have a Saeco coffee machine in the kitchen of our 3000RK which makes the lights flicker when the water heater comes on (in coffee machine). Has anyone run a seperate circuit from the control panel to kitchen using the w/d circuit? We don't ever plan on having a w/e. Will that work, or is there a better way?

Now where have I heard that before?!! (Famous last words).
To answer your question, what you suggest should be doable in theory, much would depend on how your model is laid out and wired.
For ourselves, one of my as yet unfulfilled projects is to install a separate power supply that I can run from the 15/20 amp outlet that is usually provided on the campsite power post. I figure I can use this run a heater or coffee-pot/tea kettle without using any of the trailer's normal 50 amp supply.

Our 06 3400 built in April of 06. The W/D drains direct and not into any of the tanks.Models built earlier drained into one or the other of the tanks.

OK, OntMont I may eat my words, but at this time we think we will never...
And that was supposed to be w/d. Not sure what a w/e is.

Both our 2007 Montana and our previous 2003 Montana had one breaker for the washer and one for the dryer and nothing else on either. If that's what 'dedicated circuit' means, then the answer to your question is 'yes.'

I have converted to 1 Maytag 220 Dryer by installinf a 220V breaker and outlet in the closet the original dryer was in. It works great, \gets clothes dry faster, causes fewer wrinkles, and accepts larger loads.
