Basement Door issue

We have a 2013 3402 Montana. The screws holding the hydraulic lift mounting bracket on left side continually pulls out. I have replaced with larger screws and filled holes and tried again. Screws still pull out after a few times opening the door. Any ideas? Thanks

I also filled the hole by gluing a dowel in the hole and screwing back into the dowel rod (still holding). someone on here showed some pictures of how they fixed. It was a great looking job and looks like it should last. not sure who it was, but hopefully they'll be along and share how they fixed.

We have the same year and model and had the same problem. Used gorilla glue and more screws.

When Montana introduced (and for years after) the baggage door struts, failures were common. There must be 10-20 different repair threads where folks tried all kinds of things. Do a "Search" (look in the upper right corner for the link) for things like "strut", "baggage door" or "basement" (or anything else that sounds good). Be sure to check the "Archived Posts" box on the Search menu. You should find lots of repairs with pictures.

Just to get you started, here is a link to one 5 page discussion

Same problem. Based on an excellent post on this forum, followed the solution. Got a 3x6 brace plate from Home Depot used with lumber construction, mounted two on the inside of the door with screws and liquid nails, and then reinstalled the struts directly to those plates with self tapping machine screws. Rock solid after a year.

Here's an easy solution also. I just mounted one of these repair kits last week and am impressed. I plan on doing the other side soon.

I ordered mine from Amazon.

Thanks for the ideas. Will try it again. Also thanks for search tip to include "archived" posts, I hadn't caught that before.

The solution I described and used in the above thread was $1.29 x 2. Screws and liquid nails already in the tool box.

Brackets held on by 3M5200. Works great, will last longer than the montana. John

We had the same problem on our 2013 Big Sky 3800 RE. I ordered the repair kit from Hatchlift.com. Worked perfect! They are very easy to install and the directions included in the kit are totally great.
