Bed Clearance with Goosebox

Just picked up 2023 3761FL. I have 8 1/2” of bed rail clearance but trailer is nose high. I’ have a Curt ball which is 5 1/8” tall. We can raise the Goosebox to the next hole which would lower it about 2 1/2” but that puts me at 6” bed rail clearance. I can get a B&W ball which is 5 3/4”, 5/8 higher than the Curt to get me to 6 5/8”.

For those that have a Goosebox what is your bed rail clearance?

I only have 6 inches with mine to. but I`m almost perfectly level I put 2 inch blocks under the spring mounts to get it more level. Put more air in to raise it a tad. The only problem you`ll have is entering or exiting a big dip in the entrance to something so you just have to watch and if you`re worried about it pass it up and go somewhere else. Camp grounds have never been an issue, rough roads have never been an issue, truck stops have never been a problem either. it`s the ramps at gas stations or restaurants that I have passed up. Another reason for the 63 gallon aux tank in the bed.

I’m interested in this too as I pull a MHC 295 RL behind my ‘21 RAM 2500 4x4 that sits 5 1/2” over mfg height. I have 8” or so of clearance from the bottom of the nose overhang to the bed rails. I think I can raise my pin box one set of holes giving me 2 1/2”. Has anyone lowered their RAM? I know most folks usually level or raise it. I’d like to lower mine 2-3 inches. Is this possible?

Yes. It is possible to lower/raise the goosebox. I just lowered mine, to add height. I now have 6" clearance. Had a bump on a crazy inclined camping spot. Changed while on site with a couple of camping buddies.

I'm interested as well. We just purchased a(new to us) 2020 3120RL Legacy with Airride pin box and Andersen ultimate hitch on a B&W turnoverball. TV is a 2016 CC F350 srw 6.7 diesel long bed. Haven't picked up the trailer yet but hoping to this weekend.

I have a question, I have a new to me 2020 Montana 3791Rd. I was thinking is it worth changing to a gooseneck? I currently am towing with a 2024 Ford F350 dually. Just curious.

Lippert says no because it will void your frame warranty. It puts unusual stress on the front of your frame. The front of the frame is the usual place it breaks.

The Reese Goosebox specifically advertises that it will not void the lippert warranty. www.reesegoosebox.com

I tow with the Goosebox and have had two unrelated warranty issues; actually one was done twice under warranty and no issues at all with warranty being covered. Lippert is OK with Goosebox; I think they have some connection or ownership??

Lippert is OK with a Goose Box but not as far as I know with standard gooseneck.

mlh, you're absolutely correct. Original question was goosebox but question you (and later I) responded to was indeed "gooseneck"; sorry.

Our MHC pulls slightly nose high with a Goosebox. We've pulled this way for a few thousand miles and have only seen a max differential of 2° between the forward and aft tires while towing. I'm comfortable with those readings. I obviously can't comment on bedrail height though.

The only one warrantied by Lippert is the Reese Goosebox. I have one and love it. My side rail clearance is 6".
