You have to unscrew the lines from the bags and pour an ounce or so (forget the exact amount) directly into the bags. PITA due to the location of the air inlet. Living in northeast Ohio, it was a necessity.

Primarily because of that, and price, I switched to Timbren’s for my current truck.
You've jostled old memory cells and this makes perfect sense now. Gets cold down here in the South, but nothing like you folks have to go through.

I chose to go with airbag replacement of rear stock suspension. I used AirLift wireless to control each side independently with Timber Grove airbags. There is also Kelderman. Both have great reputations. The ride is greatly improved! I chose Timber Grove as he is also a former Marine.

Good luck with your research!

Kelderman was money well spent IMO.

Been using the Firestone 5,000lb rated bags with the wireless Airlift compressor...Love it. I think the key ingredient is the wireless system. Everything is fairly very easy to install yourself, You can't go wrong with either Firestone or Airlift.

If money was no object, then we would definitely go the Kelderman route. That ain't gonna happen though.

Been waffling back and forth between the 5000 lb and 7500 lb Firestone airbags for our 3500 DRW.

What's another 9K when you already have 150K tied up?

Way off OP's subject line, but as Perry Mason would say, " since brought up in cross examination" ... We're burning thru the kids "inheritance" as well. I've witnessed more unrepairable heartache between sons and daughters in the aftermath of money issues after their parents died than I'd care to.

I tried the air lift internal jounce air bags in my Ram 3500 SRW with a 2015 3100 RL and discovered the ride when not towing with minimal air bag pressure was pretty rough. I down graded to the next level down without the internal jounce and the ride when not towing was much better.

I also have to bring my truck up 1.5" to level and use 30# with my onboard compressor. This is with a pin weight of 3,140#.

Is there any advantage and/or is it worth the extra cost to go dual path vs single path set up for towing a 5er? I can understand dual path for a slide in camper etc, but there isn’t any side to side roll towing Monty and the truck runs level side to side as is. What’s the opinion of those experienced with air bags?

The only advantage to dual path vs. single path that I see would be if you had a load other than the 5er and that weight was not centered. Example-Oversized replacement fuel tank that puts all the added weight on one side of the truck. Wish I had done dual path.

Thanks for the replies. I guess besides the more expensive compressor, why have the extra air lines and fittings under the truck with dual path if not needed. Thanks again.

Airlift 5000s have been on my 2007 Duramax since the day I bought the truck. On board compressor with analog gauge..

I have "never heard" of winterzing air lift 5000s.. I live in Idaho and the truck has been through 17 hard winters with temps below zero.. never an issue.. I run 25 psi empty and 55 psi loaded with the fiver
