Chili and Soup Cook-Off Sign-Up - UPDATED 9/28!!

UPDATE - 9/28
We are getting down to the wire!! There are sign-up sheets on the table inside the door to the big tent! We especially need salads/sides! Don't miss out on a great meal!

Are you ready for a throw down? Randy and I are the coordinators for the Chili and Soup Cook-Off. It will be on Tuesday, October 1, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

There will be two categories -- Chili and Soup.

Competitors may enter in one or both categories. All you need to do is make a crockpot of your favorite recipe!

Tasters will contribute by bringing something to “go with” – an appetizer/munchie, bread/rolls & butter or a salad/side. Dessert will be at the Ice Cream Social that follows the cook-off.

The tasting is blind – no one but the coordinators will know who made what.

How it works:
1. Each entry will have a sign with the name of the recipe and a number

2. Tasting cups will be sitting with each entry and have a corresponding number so that you can keep track of which entry you’re tasting.

3. Everyone will take a small sample of each entry, and then you’ll vote for your favorite in each category.

Voting:
Each voter will pay 50 cents to vote for one chili and one soup. (25 cents per vote) Proceeds will go towards a cash prize (!) for the winner in each category. Any excess funds will go towards offsetting Rally expenses.

So, dig out your best recipes and get ready for what we’re sure will be a great event! Please sign up on this thread to either compete (All I need to know at this point is soup or chili – I will get the name of your recipe on the day of the competition) or to bring a “go-with.”

Assistance with set-up and clean-up will also be much appreciated!

Questions? Send me a PM or e-mail.

Tom, you better be taking Prilosec 24 hours before you come to this one if you can't handle some good eatin'! It takes that long for it to kick in unless you're on it already! As Kathie has stated, there's always the Ice Cream Social that follows to cool things down a little!

Hope we have some good response to this thread because it is something new we're trying this year and since the Rally is a little later this year, the Chili and Soup just might be what we need to warm up a little. You not only get to taste one but your choice of hopefully many variations of Chili and different types of Soup. If it's raining there's nothing better than a good bowl of Chili or Soup to warm you up!

I'm challenging a competitor in the "Chicken Chili Category"! Also add cole slaw and tortilla chips for us.
