Disc Brake Upgrade
Having trouble getting a contractor to commit to an upgrade. We contacted Performance Trailer Braking but they have not been able to commit to a time or place to do the work. We have offered to take the trailer to the Northwest as we plan on attending the rally in Coeur d' Alene. Our goal is to have the brakes upgraded prior to traveling to the rally in Goshen. If you have any ideas about getting this work done, shout out!!

There is no black magic involved in the disc brake installation, any competent mechanic can easily do it. Talk to any local auto or trailer repair shop to see if they are interested. The only part that takes any skill is bending the metal lines and that’s basically in how neat you want it to look. Go to stop your trailer.com for a video on how it’s done, I’m sure there are other videos on the web as well. Any willing mechanic could do it in your location with basic hand tools including a cheap hand held tube bender.

I agree with above. And, I'd say you might not be going to a rally in June in Coeur d' Alene because of the 'virus.'
As for Goshen, I'd suspect that if you wanted performance to do it get a commitment from them, I assume they'll be there again, and then do it at the Fall rally.

Performance did my upgrade in my driveway shortly after I purchased my rig...also did the same last year for my friend. We are in Texas. But maybe they can't keep up with the demand. But in reality, most likely it is because of this nasty Virus that they are not doing homesite installs for the time being.

Unless Utah is shut down, I would think you could find a shop or reputable mechanic in your area that could do the install for you. You might peruse the forums here on brake supplier and brands. We have had very good service with Kodiak Brake products .

I'm not being a smart @$$, but have you considered doing it yourself? Just wondering if you had the capability. If you follow the directions on Performance Trailer Braking's website, along with their torque values, you could do it yourself maybe. I do realize that everyone isn't as comfortable tackling a job like this.

Disk Brakes and Independent Suspension
I had both disk bakes and independent suspension done at Moryde in Elkhart Indiana. Great job and great people and a fair price.

Disc brake upgrade
I agree with Golfmedik, the upgrade is something a that can be done at home if you have a little ability and a good video. Did it myself over a couple of days and the new tubing kits can be bent by hand (you will need an tubing cutter and double flare tool, those can be rented). Good luck.

Another for doing it yourself.
Mechanically it takes a few sockets, 3-4 combination wrenches and a bottle jack. Electrically - a handful of correctly colored 12 AWG wiring, a side cutter/stripper/crimper. You can use the Kodiak rubber lines which work well or if handy and have a tube flaring tool set, hard lines. Note that you can find Kodiak rubber lines in many more different lengths then places like etrailer handle
Some Russell or Dorman Speed Bleeders make bleeding the hydralic system a one man job.
The bracket bolts, if not supplied, need to be changed out for longer ones - I used ARP bolts and nuts which are about 50% stronger then the mediocre Chinese Gr 8 supplied by some bundlers

Performance Trailer Braking installed ours this past June at the Coos Bay, OR rally. They were also installing them at Quartzsite this past January.

Call Mr. Dennis Hageman, in Arizona, at 419-551-1066. He will get you hooked up.

Wolfden hasn’t been back on line since an hour after he started this thread. I wonder why people ask for advice and then don’t check back to receive it, let alone fill us in on the outcome.

Unfortunately, that's the way of many, if not most forums. I try to respond to whomever for any questions I ask.
