Brake Control Numbers on 2020 Ram 2500
We are towing a 2021 MHC 331RL with our 2020 Ram 2500 diesel. The brake controller is set at 1.5. The higher I try to go the tighter the brakes get on the camper. The camper will stop the truck if I get it too high. Just curious if anyone has the same setup and what number you are setting your brake controller at?

Chief, a couple of quick questions. Disk or drum brakes? Which setting do you have for brake type on your controller? If you have disk, you need to set it to electric over hydraulic heavy. If it is standard drum brakes, you need it on electric brakes. I am running about 8 on mine with disk brakes.

We have electric drum brakes. When I toggled through the menu on the truck it says the controller is set to "Heavy Electric".

That should be the correct setting. I haven’t seen a 1.5 setting before. I would contact your Ram dealer.

I don't know about the number setting on your specific rig, but you do want the trailer brakes to brake first, and maybe a little harder than the tow vehicle, but not overly aggressive either. If you are forced into a panic stop, you'll definitely understand why you want it set up this way!
