switching hitches

I have a 2016 Montana fifth wheel which we had a 18k Superglide hitch and it required a capture plate on the RV. I bought a new truck and installed a 25k B&W Companion hitch. Do I jeep the capture plate on the RV or remove it?

The capture plate is a pullrite requirement and not needed for the B&W hitch.
It should be removed.

Seriously, if you can hitch up to a rig with a capture plate with a regular hitch you will tear the head off your hitch at the first corner. That capture plate is intended to force the head to turn when a corner is made making it a wonderful theft protection device, but you need to remove it in your situation.

I would not want to see the damage that the latch plate would do to a B&W. That B&W is a STOUT hitch. I'd be surprised if it didn't actually do more damage to the pin box than the hitch.

One thing's for sure, it would be BAD...
