This weekend, Harbor Freight has the Predator 3500 watt inverter generator on sale for $629.99.

That is a good price on a 3500 watt generator. They have all their generators 15% off. Their 5000 watt unit is $935. I’ve had both and both are good generators. The 5000 watt is a dual fuel with a remote start.

I'm thinking of getting the 9500 for home backup. We live in a rural area on a dead end road. We're always last to get it back in widespread outages. Its usually days, not hours for us. We've used our Honda 3000 for years but no 240 Volt stuff. Be nice to be able to run heat pump, water heater and range top/oven.

We have been out 11 days this year. 5 consecutive last month.

They have their 9500 watt for $1900. Not a bad price.
My new F150 has 7200 watt 240 volt generator built in their Powerboost.

That's a nice feature on your truck. Didn't realize they were that powerful and 240 volt.

They sorta kinda give it to you. Ford raised the price of the 2024 F150 trucks. Now they charge $1900 for the Powerboost then give you a $1900 discount. See sorta kinda. If you get the 3.5 Ecoboost with a locking rearend that will be $470 more than the Powerboost that comes standard with a locking rearend. I think they need to increase their MPG to avoid large penalties like Ram had last year with the Hemi truck to the tune of over a half billion dollars.

How loud are these generators? I remember using a Generac and it was louder than being on an aircraft carrier. We now use two Honda suitcases tied together...very quiet, but only enough to run one A/C, so for emergencies only. But it is very quiet, and portable without needing wheels.

My son-in-law recently bought a Predator 5000. He initially wanted to get the 3500, but it was out of stock at Harbor Freight. His only complaint about the 5000 is its weight.

I own two Generac 3500s and have to use a parallel kit to run the AC.

Mine is very quiet. I don't have a Honda to compare it to but I am told by others that do that mine is quieter than theirs.

How much noise. The 3500 is about 52 Db the 5000 is about 60 both at 26 feet I think if my memory serves me correctly. It’s getting old but you can easily stand beside either one and hold a conversation.
I have a 3000 watt Honda they are slightly louder than my Honda. I have a noise meter on my phone to check them with.
Either one will be less noisy than 2 small units.

If you don’t need a generator now just wait they will be on sale soon. That is the Harbor Freight way.
Lynwood

They do have 10% off any single item over $50.
I just checked.

I really like my 5000 but find the co sensor to sensitive if I have it in the p/up with the 5th wheel hooked up a exhaust extension to around the middle of the hitch and just one section of the box cover down it will only run about 5mins before shutting off.

That can be fixed. I made an aluminum box to seal the CO detector so air couldnít get to it. You may not be able to make that but there is another way to get around that. Find a plastic box that the sensor will fit in and seal it up with epoxy. Donít use silicone. You will find the sensor on the right side of the generator under the plastic frame. It is held in place by two 10 mm screws on a steel bracket with a 30 to 45 degree angle on it.
You might find a wiring fix for this problem on the internet but when I bought mine I couldnít.

From the online specs, it looks like there is only a few pounds difference between the 3500 and 5000.
