Travel to New Mexico

This is not intended to be political it's just to help our members if they are traveling here or thru here. Not only is the state closed down except for essential businesses, but many of those essential businesses are also facing closure due to a high number of infected staff. In our part of the state Albertsons Market in Carlsbad and Sam's Club in Roswell have had to close from today until December 2nd and those are just two in our part of the state that I'm aware of. Albuquerque had almost a thousand new cases yesterday alone so closure of essential businesses is just getting started.

Well, I have reservation in Los Curses from 12/8-12/10 at Hacienda RV Resort. We will be stock up and don’t think we will need anything. I hope

Be aware that at the present time the Los Cruces area has one of the highest, if not the highest covid rates in the state. 10,900 cases and 149 deaths and only 100,000 people live there. It seems to have to do with how close they are to El Paso that you see on the news almost daily.

Unfortunately that’s our 500 mile day coming from Yuma AZ, from their we go to Kerrville Tx and I’m not about to stop or stay anywhere near El Paso.

Thanks for the info, will just stick around the RV.

We frequently stop in Deming. Only 1600 cases and 20 deaths.

Deming, Lordsburg, Wilcox, many places to dry camp; any would be a better choice than Las Cruces or El Paso.

This is the reason we haven't gone anywhere this year. You can't tell if the state is open or not. Not much to see when you are stuck in the RV.

Thanks for the info. We supposed to be at Hacienda Las Cruces in February. Hope things ease up by then. If not, we may cancel but feel that I need to get out and about. Wanted to be snowbird this year.

Well, I would have recommended going to the La Posta restaurant in Cruces but just read an article where the gov there has had them so shutdown that they've let go of their staff and pretty much don't do anything. For 80 years or so it was a super place to eat and used to drive there from Cloudcroft quite often.

Wr are in Frericksberge for another couple months. Things aren't too bad here. Most businesses are open with the usual precautions.

Cuisine is a very personal taste so I understand your thoghts. Having lived in/around NM/TX all my life and being familiar with nearly all TX, TX/MX, NM, SW Indian options - and being a prolific cook, our family really liked La Posta...particularly the chile colorado....but then, some don't like those things.

For us red chili, cayenne, cumin and/or Hatch green chilis are great cooked correctly....and yes, I cook with them all the time (have a bushel sitting in my freezer). On the other hand, cooked a pot of potato/chicken, cheese, bacon, cream and green chili soup the other day, very mild, and my GDs boyfriend (from FL) said he couldn't eat it....it was too spicy (family favorite) - I thought I had pretty much washed the chili flavor out. Taste is a very subjective thing; if one is interested in local flavors I would recommend La Posta personally - very popular...until the "shutdown" in NM .

Hate to hear its that bad for ya there in NM. I thought maybe with the extreme lockdowns in that state that maybe it wouldn't be as bad as the rest of the country.

Its bad here too in Arkansas. The wife is working 12 hour shifts now due to nursing shortage. Several positive cases both staff and patients at her nursing home facility. Just pray that the vaccine is available VERY SOON!

I was referring to it being shut down. We lived there 11 years and it was staple for us
