Thank you Dexter

I have attended the Dexter presentation before as I did this time. The difference being I paid more attention at this one. Because of our accident we were concerned that there had been damage to the axle. Dexter told me how to check and measure and also recommended Mo Trailer in Goshen to check the axle as well. Also part of their presentation referred to the proper checking and torqing of the U bolts for the leaf springs.

Went to Mo's after the rally where they did a check and measurement and gave us an all clear. YEA Got home and crawled underneathe with torque wrench and checked my U bolts. The curb side were all tight but the street side required 5-6 quarter turns on 4 of the nuts with a few less on the others.

Any suggestions on why the street side would need adjusting but not the curb side? At any rate I'm glad this piece of maintenance was discussed and I'm glad I listened.

My guess is that the street side were never tightened correctly in the first place. Obviously Mo's garage did not check them for you. They would not have been that loose.

X2. I have found that once torqued correctly, they stay torqued.

Ozz, Moe only checked the camber of the axle to insure it was not bent. The rear axle had been replaced about 2 years ago in Ocala, Fl. That would have been the only time the U bolts would have been touched.

Oh, OK In that case, maybe it is because that is the heavy side, with the kitchen and entertainment. I installed 4,000# springs on mine on that side, 3500# on the curb side.
I just crawled from under my trailer, torquing wheels, greasing the shakle bolts. Mine were a little loose also.
(I have the '07 3400RL)
